Slightly OT, but I find this "SJW boogeyman" thing pretty amusing when there are more super fanservicey games than ever making it to the west. Like straight up icecream thread games appearing on American and European consoles with minimum censorship if any. And that's before we even get into the full on porn that mangagamer releases, some of which depicts explicit sex scenes with minors. And yet, none of this is noticeably controversial.

Would making DOAX3 digital-only for the west have been a cheaper alternative and less likely to cause controversy due to a lower-key release?
I think only one of those games have been released. so who knows....perhaps they get editted?

Play-Asia is right now marketing to a group of ignorant people and a hate group who is always against the "SJW menace" and the "feminist cabal."
They retweeted a picture used for harassment and have also linked Brietbart too which a lot of GamerGaters go to.
Honestly I suspect they'll do this.

Not really what I would call a "hate group", but fair enough. Knowing it's an anti-Gamergate thing puts it into perspective for me. I'm in the "Both sides are ridiculously represented so the whole thing is moot" camp so I assume emotions are high.

Yeah, but it'll still cost money. If there's profit to be made there, you can speculate this is what they'll do once they bleed out the premium Asian market.
Also, my mistake earlier, I didn't realize the exchange rate had gotten so shit. The MSRP for this game comes out to almost $78 which is pretty high even for Japan.
Nothing really happened though. There has been nothing of a pushback against the game since many didn't even know it existed, and now that many do know it exists, they don't really care and no one is even worked up about it at all.

How are they NOT a hate group? They harass tons of people (mostly women who open up about the shitty treatment of women in the industry & in video games but also men who come out in support of those women & their cause) in the Interwebz and some even IRL for having certain opinions.

I don't think they ever will realize they are in the minority. The whole of gaming media can come out against them and they will be deluded enough to believe 'SJWs' somehow concocted the whole thing. The only way we stop this is if we start treating harassment as the real issue it is, deal with it accordingly under the law as well as give folks enough tools to truly deal with it.

I hope PA keeps doing what they're doing. This is just more attention for them and the game, and I'm happy they're sticking up for what they believe in. I'm happy to buy more asian english releases from them in the future.
Koei Tecmo is a company, and their primary goal is to make money. If they don't release DoAX3 in the west, it's because they think it won't make money for whatever reason. Either DoA is not doing well in the west, or they really do think that American audiences are not into what can only be described as skin flicks in gaming form. It's not like Koei Tecmo hasn't released games with with scantily clad busty girls in the past few years. I personally think it will eventually hit the states and this whole controversy will ultimately be silly.
It's more important gamers let them know that gamergate is the minority. The press could have done something a year ago, but didn't.
Look at normal GG banter, they constantly talk about how they represent "real gamers". But if more gamers told them to fuck off instead of ignoring them, then they'd go away.
