Looks like PSVR is off to a good start in Japan

Many stores in Japan were already sold out. In June, Sony started accepting preorders in Japan. Slots at online retailers evaporated in minutes and hundreds of people lined up overnight at large electronics stores.

Mr. Izumi, who lives in the Tokyo area, failed to secure one locally but found an opening at Sonys official store in Fukuoka, about 600 miles to the southwest. So he flew there to place a preorder and the machine is set to be delivered today.

I was lucky, Mr. Izumi said. He said that once he hooks up the PlayStation VR to a high-end PlayStation 4 machine, I believe it has a lot of potential to change my life.

This just confirms japanese people's love for technology. What I don't get is why Sony didn't make it so that I (and other thousands ans thousands of people) could get one on day one. I tried to get one three times, but online was pretty much impossible and I'm not a fan of standing in line all night to buy something. Luckily I'll have my pro on day one. Hopefully this problem will be solved soon...

Bestbuy stores did no preorders, the store I went to had 8 launch bundles and 24 regular units. There were only 3 people in line 1 hr before they went on sale. The launch bundles sold out but they had plenty of headsets left.

The situation in Europe appears to be quite different. Many stores just received as may units as were preordered months ago.
