Taxi Driver.

For me personally, I think Goodfellas lands snuggly between Taxi Driver and Raging Bull at #2. Taxi Driver's full of so much pure awesome, but Goodfellas really is a brilliant, specific film. It's copycats don't come close. Anyway though, Raging Bull tops.

Bump. Needs a couple more.

Here's hoping we do another one sometimne. I think the Spielberg one was so awesome for the sheer versatility of films that he's made. Scorscese's great, but the range and turmoil that creates in the threads isn't there. Still, had to be done with such an incredible director. Next up though, I'd like to see one of these..

Akira Kurosawa
John Ford
Billy Wilder
Alfred Hitchcock

Namely somebody with a lot of films and no clear #1, with a name to bring GAF in.

And it's all over! In a stunning knockout, Raging Bull takes the bout at post #192 of the 4th page! To the results..

9. The Departed
8. The King Of Comedy
7. Age of Innocence
6. After Hours
5. Last Temptation of Christ
4. Mean Streets

2. Taxi Driver
1. Raging Bull

Btw, if we do a Kurosawa list, what's a good top 10? I'm having trouble nailing it down. Here's 10, and a couple extras..

Rashomon
Seven Samurai
Ikiru
The Hidden Fortess
Yojimbo
Sanjuro
Red Beard
Kagemusha
Ran
Throne of Blood

Stray Dog (too good to leave off)
High and Low
Dersu Uzala (real well liked but probably too rare to receive votes)
The Lower Depths
Dreams

We should do a Cameron list, even though he only has 6 movies (Pirahna II doesn't count).

Will be interesting to see the T2/Aliens bout.

Haha, yeah, sounds like something you would do. If Cameron made another film since 1996, maybe we could. Instead since True Lies - we got Titantic, Imax films, and Dark Angel the tv series. He could have had so much awesome stuff out right now, if his ego wasn't to the point where he won't make a film unless it was bigger than his last.

Anyway, choosing from sub-10 good films list, Linklater would be a cool one. Kurosawa's would probably be most heated though that I could think of. Then Hitchcock maybe or Wilder. John Ford has a ton of films but The Searchers is treated as his best pretty frequently.

many did it to get it out quick since so many are those who haven't seen any of his movies OTHER than the departed so they got it out quickly to avoid those who haven't seen a bunch of Scorsese movies from keeping it in by default

Wow, thats retarded, its one of his best films. His best of the ones I've seen in order are Goodfellas, The Departed, Taxi Driver, The Last Temptation of Christ, Cape Fear and Casino.

I saw The Raging Bull, but I didn't really understand it and I want to see it again before I rate it because of right now, it'd probably be dead last, but I know its better than that and I need to see it with my more matured eye. Back then I saw it when I was still a little 9th grader.

Edit: lol oh yeah, I forgot I saw Gangs of New York and The Aviator. Those are awesome movies too, especially The Aviator. You guys are straight haters.

I'm even wanting to see the battle between the elitist Terminator fans who think the original is better than Judgment Day. It could be VERY interesting!

I think The Departed got the shaft on GAF personally. Looking back at the Rottentomatoes thread when it first came out, people were gushing. Backlash has come into effect now though. Definitely higher if this poll was in 10-15 years. I also think Casino got the short end of the stick. I know everyone looks and says Goodfellas-lite, fanservice, etc.. but it's still a solid film.. well, from my last viewing years back. Damn Sharon Stone though.

Yep, had Casino not followed after Goodfellas, I think it would be viewed in a far more welcoming light. Casino is brilliant. I was really disappointed with the lack of Aviator love.

I agree that a Cameron one would be pretty fun. It would also be one where many people have seen most or all of the movies on the list.

Then it's settled.

Somebody else make it, I won't have time to update it.

Round 3 - James Cameron.

The list:

The Terminator
Aliens
The Abyss
Terminator 2: Judgment Day
True Lies
Titanic

Might as well not even list True Lies, brah.

I would vote off Titanic first. It doesn't have a line as awesome as "What kind of sick bitch takes the ice cube trays out the freezer?!?!"

True Lies perfects action and comedy, partners in freedom. But it's still the first to go... to be honest they're all pretty close.

No way, duder. True Lies and Titanic are easily way below the other four in terms of quality.

Yea, I love True Lies and it's one of the best action-comedies of the 90s...but the other four are pretty much all ****ing classics.

Alright I'll concede T2 and Aliens loom undaunted over the rest of his filmography.
