PAL Charts - Week 4, 2014

DBZ somewhat charting in the thirties is interesting

Knack is balling and KZ still be strong

Also Interesting to see PS4 software being high and stable throughout the weeks instead of rising high and dropping low

I am pretty sure being the 2nd with 24 millions and being the 3rd with 80+millions are quite different story. And if we minus those purchases from causal gamers, I believe Will would be less than PS360 and stand on the 3rd spot which means X360 perhaps stands for 2nd in the last gen.

Wait what?

"If we don't count for America PS3 would be on top" ...huh?

If you went at the angle of the Xbox 360 selling more software, I'd understand but to just strike off a consumer base that bought the console like that confuses me.

Dat Knack. Consumers show with their wallets what they want, and its a cerny title, not a miyamoto rehash. Good job guys, keep doing the world and video gaming proud.

So, Wii Sports best game of all time then, considering it is the best selling game of all time? You must be a massive Nintendo-fanboy if you are consistent in equating quality and sales, as the list of best-selling software is pretty heavily dominated by Nintendo. Also, Mario 3D World is outselling Knack worldwide, so your argument is flawed no matter what.

Seems like someone hasn't gotten the Knack of it yet

I love each and every time someone takes the Knack bait. The seething undertones.

It's a hard knack life for mario.

I know about this running Knack-joke thats been going on in the PAL-thread, and have no problem with it as long as it is done with humour as the ones from you guys that I quote here. However, the one I quoted in my last post seems to genuinely hold the view that Knack is a better game than the "Miyamoto-rehash" proved by the better sales, and considering I highly disagree with his argument, I responded. Dont see anything wrong with that.

What? My love for (GotY runner-up '13 / Platformer of the Year '13) Knack is as pure as the driven snow.

Sales don't always equate to quality (and the Vita shows there can be an inverse relationship), but in this instance they do. Knack is the dog's bollocks.

I agree the blame for M3D World shouldn't be laid at Miyamoto's feet. It wasn't even developed in house at Nintendo, they outsourced it to some shovelware-pushers called 'EAD'

If you truly read that in ILoveBish's post then move on ...

Why wouldnt I? He wrote just the same thing in the thread about the opinion piece from Eurogamer about how Miyamoto and not Iwata was to blame for Nintendos misfortune.

I wonder if Knack will get merchandise and TV shows, seeing that even the slower selling Mario got those, I think it's a safe bet.

When you are starting the campaign for Knack for VITA. :)

Are there any reviews or impressions for Battle of Z? I haven't put time into a DBZ game since Tenkaichi 3, but I really want to play as GoD Bills/SS God Goku.
Look in the generic PS4/PS3/PSP/PSV/PSN thread. There was a demo, and people were talking about it. Possibly also a separate thread here about it.

Take them before they're cancelled, because Ukie / Metro version of the PR is...a sort of Complete Edition

‘FIFA 14’ (28,088 / -14%) makes it 4 straight weeks in 2014 at No1 and 9 in total since launch. In yet another quiet week for new releases the Top 3 are unchanged with Call of Duty: Ghosts’ (18,872 / -2%) still at No2 and ‘Battlefield 4’ (16,053 / -13%) at No3. ‘Lego Marvel Superheroes’ (12,190 / -2%) is at No4 swapping places with Ubisoft’s ‘Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag’ (10,417 / -35%) at No5. Format exclusives ‘Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition’ (8,665 / +2%) and PS4’s ‘Killzone: Shadow Fall’ (8,011 / -12%) are at No6 and No7 while ‘Grand Theft Auto V’ (7,581 / -4%) climbs a spot to No8. EA’s third Top 10 title ‘Need for Speed: Rivals’ ( 7,480 / -17%) slips two places to No 9. There’s a debut at No10 this week for Namco Bandai’s ‘Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Z’ (4,891). The title for Xbox 360, PS3 and Vita becomes the best selling Week 1 for any multi format Dragon Ball title as far back as 2009. Further down the chart last week’s debutant ‘Mario Party: Island tour’ (2,940 / -10%) for 3DS climbs a spot to No17.

PS4 still in beast-mode, it seems.

ps4 dominating the top 10

PS4 software dominating but I'm surprised about the X1 hold up.

PS4 continues to dominate.

I wouldn't go that far though it's undoubtedly off to a stong start. 4 titles in the UK Top-10 compared to XBO's 2.

So, first: how these numbers fit with the 2014 charts so far?

Remember those posts where, starting from the 2013 YTD numbers for the main sellers, I extrapolated their weekly sales? Given they've resulted being very, very, very near to the real numbers, I could use them again. In this case

I second that.. otherwise these threads of PAL chart would be as quiet as a dead man

It's interesting that although the two gen consoles are out, the pal charts threads are still really tame. Used be be way more traffic in these thread 4 years ago.

Maybe i's just a wrong memory.

UK retail software

Week Ending 25 January 2014
Revenue: ÂŁ9.8 million
Units: 369,332

YTD (same as monthly result for January, I believe)
Revenue: ÂŁ58.5 million (+24.2%)
Units: 2.23 million (+5.4%)

That's a really positive result for the first four weeks of 2014. Just for comparison:
2011: ÂŁ84.6 million (-7.7%)
2012: ÂŁ59.1 million (-30.1%)
2013: ÂŁ47.1 million (-20.3%)
2014: ÂŁ58.5 million (+24.2%)

It looks like 2013 was the bottom. And, in some sense, GTA V followed by next-gen was the period in which it all turned around.

These are strong positive results..
No HW results are given?

XBone doing pretty badly in Germany. And where the f*&k is Killzone? The PS4 shipment must be miniscule for mainland Euro with all the consoles being diverted to the UK.

Is Dragonball big in Germany? Or is it a reeeaally slow week?

It's usually doing pretty well and quite popular. Last years version debuted on #1 , I thnk. (but we had console charts back then).

12 (NE) PC DAS SCHWARZE AUGE: BLACKGUARDS (DAEDALIC / EUROVIDEO)

Deserved! Normal retail version has no DRM at all, a colored booklet, an audio CD and a world map. Seemed to sell good on steam, too. Hope it is a big success and we get DLC. Great game.
