Boobs and blood! New Conan screens!

Not necessarily a bad thing... My PS2's been rotting away in a cupboard for ages, and I could do with a GOW style fix on 360.

And it's got a massive zombie squid, which can only be a good thing?

David Jaffe actually invented the sword-and-censory genre in 1910 and was the main driving force behind Frank Franzetta's art. Franzetta was really vocal about thanking Jaffe for the inspiration thru his whole career.
 
It looks disgusting. The throat slitting looks ridiculous, 2 characters with random facial expressions, looking into nothingness. This game doesn't have any atmosphere.

A good point, well made.

I did actually forget that GOW wasn't the first ever hack n slash with blood and boobs. How come Conan's accused of copying GOW?? Surely the first GOW style game dates back to... well, 1910, like Shuri says.

And Conan is based in graphic novel heritage... it OWNS that art style.

We're talking about the game, not art style. This game hardly represents good art.
 
Since this is a Conan thread, are the original stories still good today? Have they aged well? The only thing I've read were the old black and white Marvel comics.

The original stories are still wonderful. Better yet, they've recently collected them, saving readers from trying to hunt down old paperbacks. The Conan stuff is still best, but Howard's other characters, like Solomon Kane, are worth reading, too.

That movie is from an early build, its smoother now, although graphics didn't change much. Has a bit more AA though

Agreed. I think it captures the character perfectly. It's actually more Buscema than Frazetta, which fits a videogame better IMHO. If the gameplay is anything like God of War, I'm sold.

I can almost hear ESRB scream: "Freshhh Bloodddd!"

Looks like a pretty good game thou, only sad fact is that ESRB will most probably munch off their limbs and leave it to die.
 
Are there two Conan games? One that is an MMO and one that is action/adventure game? The vids are from the MMO, but those pics dont look like that game.
 
As far as I know there is a single player adventure that you start out at which then when you get to a certain lvl or something you can enter the online world. I think you can just jump online too.

Im surprised the ESRB hasnt sent a takedown notice to Flickr and whoever put those up as un-approved advertising!

Yes, they are 2 different games...

There's the PC MMO from a different publisher (not sure who, off-hand) called Age of Hyborians or something...

This is CONAN, just Conan, and is an all-out action title for X360 and PS3


And Chapel, I don't envisage any problem with those screenshots, we just have a no-nudity policy on THQ's UK website (they might crop up in other territories!). We might re-address that with Juiced 2 around the corner though (I assume everyone on GAF remembers the first UK Juiced viral ; )
