Summary
Based on the highly popular light novel of the same name. For years, Kyosuke Kousaka, a normal seventeen-year old high school student, hadn't gotten along with his blood-related younger sister, fourteen-year old Kirino. This all changes one day when he stumbles upon a magical girl anime DVD and discovers to his surprise that it belongs to said little sister. Forced to come to terms with the fact that he has little sister with a little-sister fetish, Kyouske becomes her unwilling partner-in-crime as she delves into the world of otakudom while also trying to maintain her normal teenage girl life.
Six volumes of the novel have currently been released, with over a million copies sold between them. A manga series is also currently being serialized, with art by Sakura Ikeda. Also of note is the fact that the anime character art is done by Hiroyuki Oda, the original illustrator of the light novels.

Theme Songs
The OP theme, irony is sung by the duo unit, ClariS, consisting of two junior high school girls, Kurara and Alice (formerly known as the doujin unit Alice☆Kurara).
Each episode ED will have a different song sung by the voice cast. The songs will be the winning entries of a song composition contest that was held back in June.

Characters
- Kurusu Kanako- One if Kirino's 'normal-side' friends and classmate. A self-opinionated loudmouth that won't hesitate to get in the way of others and enjoys doing so.
- Aragaki Ayase- Kirino's other 'normal side' friend and classmate. She and Kirino both do modeling for various teen magazines. A diligent and reserved girl, she seems to get along well with Kyousuke too.
Until her attitude changes once she discovers Kirino's 'secret'
- Makishima Saori- One of Kirino's 'otaku-side' friends, she goes by the handle 'Saori Vageena' and dresses, acts, and speaks like a typical Akiba-kei. She's the manager of the board Kirino frequents and is the one who organized the initial offline get-together.
Her real identity is an Ojou-sama type
- Gokou Rui- Kirino's 'otaku-side' friend and rival, she goes by the handle 'Kuroneko.' Favors dressing up in goth lolita outfits. Despite her attitude towards Kirino and the others, she is actually very shy at school with no real friends and is picked on by her classmates.
- Kousaka Kirino- The heroine of the series and Kyōsuke's younger sister. Mature for her age, she also exhibits a cold, tsundere-like personality. She along with Ayase has a part-time job modeling, and spends the money she earns it primarily on her hobbiy of various little-sister-themed adult games and goods. Does not hold any feelings for Kyousuke at all.
At least until...
- Tamura Manami- Kyousuke's childhood friend with the typical childhood crush on him. Though a bit of a ditz, she's really smart. For some reason, Kirino doesn't think highly of her.
- Kousaka Kyousuke- The protagonist of the story. He initially had a very distant relationship with his little sister, to the point where they rarely spoke to each other. This all changes one day when he discovers that Kirino is an otaku. He tries to be a supportive older brother, so far as to accompany his little sister in her interests and misadventures as well as protect her from being exposed.
