Conker's Bad Fur Day dev Chris Seavor returns to Nintendo with eShop game Rusty Pup

Conker's Bad Fur Day developer Chris Seavor has returned to Nintendo platforms with eShop game Rusty Pup.

Seavor, who created the cult adult N64 game and worked on many others while at Rare, told NintendoLife that The Unlikely Legend of Rusty Pup is a 2D platformer with dark elements and a hint of Lemmings.

"It's a very sad tale," he said. "It's not dark as in 'mature' - it's not got swearing in it, or anything like that. It's quite a serious and adult story, but still a fun and hopefully playable game with lots going on. There will be moments of dark humour, but nothing gory."

I never knew much about Chris Seavor but after listening to that Conker commentary on Youtube I followed him on Twitter and he was hilarious during E3.

How is this not getting more attention?!

These are the credits for Parashoot Stan, you're mind will be blown:

HOLY SHIT, please let at least these folks be back for Pup, this is amazing! O_o

I'm my opinion this could be the Rare console game Nintendo fans could have been waiting a long time for, especially if the dream team from Stan is back.

Bonsai Barber only had 3 Rare folks on it (Martin Hollis, David Doak, Ed Sludden).

Awesome fucking announcement. I really hope people don't start to get 2D platformer fatigue on the Wii U because it's fucking rad that there can be a home for games like that these days!

If Grant Kirkhope is on board for this one then so am I. I was kinda sad that Parashoot Stan was iOS only, so I'm stoked that these guys get to try their hand on the eShop. Hope they do well, as the eShop still needs to prove itself as a viable platform for smaller devs.

""You physically move in and out of the screen."
So is it 2.5D like some Mario 3D Land stages?

DKCR maybe? IRONY!

I hope the game is fully pre-rendered, pretty sure Parashoot Stan was fully pre-rendered as well, could you imagine HD Rare Dream Team sprites?! O_O

Stan had that Rare look as well, so here's hoping!

Also I learned something not long ago; Kevin Bayliss was the character designer of DK, Diddy, and some Kremlings in DKC, Steve Mayles (Gregg's brother) did Dixie and K. Rool.

Steve is still at Rare from what I've seen, if Grant Kirkhope and Steven Hurst's Banjo successor ever sees the light of day, they should get Kevin to do the characters since his and Steve's characters are pretty damn similar when you get down to it.

I would assume Chris did most of his own characters himself? Not certain, Rusty Pup does look right out of Conker.

Here's a higher-res pic of Pup that Seavor showed as a teaser weeks ago:

So the full title is The Unlikely Legend of Rusty Pup, here's the FULL poster:

And cleverly, it seems that we might have our first look of the potential sprite work (speculation of course), Gory Detail added this as their profile pic on Twitter:

Looks ripe for an HD sprite game I would think. :P Parashoot Stan had a similar look to it, hell what if the Pup art I posted in my last post above is also some kind of sprite? Ah who knows! XD

Loving the look of this, this is my #1 most anticipated eShop game by far! :D

Edit: Just realized this pic is missing the whiskers shown in every other pic, what's up with that? :P

LOL wow, that's unique, I doubt he'd spoil anything (you can see level and boss names), it's a nice look into what we can expect.

And yeah, it sounds like you don't control Pup, but hey, if it's Seavor at the helm, how can we doubt him?

Again, this is like if Rare made an eShop game (as long as at least the Stan team is back, hopefully even more from Rare than that!). I;d imagine they'd need more members since this is more of a full-fledged game than Stan's mobile game.

Would explain why it's not due until next year, they might not be able to work on it all at the same time so each will work on it when they have time.

That is a strange glimpse at seemingly a whole lot about the game. Not really sure if those are spoilers or not. Seems like it lists every level in the game right off the bat. Still, it's always awesome to get teases like this, and I am just getting more excited to see a full reveal.
