So ever since it's reveals I am still not sure what is everyone's obsession with this game. Why is this even so hyped? I've seen people in threads bash COD and then go on to praise Titanfall like its gonna do something new with the genre.

But from everything i've read and seen for this game, it's basically the multiplayer for COD but more Future warfare (Robots) and some jumping around from Brink. The gameplay looks pretty much EXACTLY like COD, down to the points and a thousand banners popping on the screen after a kill. Yeah they got double jump now and some running, mechs seem cool but all of this has been done many times in FPS before and probably better. Mechs pretty much look like the same gameplay but at a slower pace.

Maybe I'm jaded but I expect more of the same COD experience with a few new twists. Like every other COD clone out there.

After seeing some of the new gameplay from VGX my hype has deflated somewhat. I'm still waiting for a competitive shooter as fun as TF2 to come out.

Yeah, from what I saw today, the piloting of the mechs isn't much different from controlling a soldier; they don't really feel like "titans."

It's a fun and much needed twist on the Call of Duty formula. If you love Call of Duty, etc. it might just be what the doctor ordered for the inevitable fatigue of buying the same game year after year. If you're kind of over Call of Duty in general, it probably won't do much for you in the long run.

Yes you are jaded, I haven't gotten into an FPS since CoD4(I did play a little Halo Reach) and Titanfall looks fun as hell to me.

I still wish they had ditched forced ADS gameplay to allow us to shoot while running along building accurately, but the game still looks very compelling to me.

It just gives me that feeling where Respawn has laid out the tools to make every match will unique with literally thousands of possible outcomes.

It looks cool for what it is but I am completely burned out on the Call of Duty derivative, explosions everywhere, reward points every 2 seconds style of game design.

I agree with OP that the hype seems inflated. But at the same time, is it really THAT hard to understand why this game is being hyped? Come on.

It looks fun and every impression I've read from those whose opinions matter to me have been positive.

I'm looking forward to it, go fucking figure, right?

I have full faith in this game being awesome.

From the team that brought me MOH AA, COD, COD2, COD4, and MW2, I expect a similar style of play with some more genre breaking awesomeness. These guys truly know how to make a shooter and push it forward.

And to call it a cod clone is ridiculous since they are the original creators.

I guess it depends on what you are into. To be honest if multiplayer shooters aren't your thing, then yeah this probably isn't something to be hyped about. As someone who likes playing shooters like Battlefield Halo, gears and the occasional bout of COD, this is why I have an xbox one under my Christmas tree( with dead rising 3 taunting me)

It's all subjective, there is never going to be one game that appeals to everyone universally, it's ok not to like something popular.

The thing I don't get most about Titanfall is that people are making a big deal out of the 'vertical' gameplay and the pilot movement. It's like Tribes never existed, or any other number of games with jetpacks.

It looks like a fun little shooter with mechs and tribes style movement. The way people talk about it, you'd think it was the most important thing to ever happen to the shooter genre.

So what does deserve excitement, no games announced? You could break down any title like this but some people are going to play it and are justifiably hyped. Some aren't, I don't see any meaning in this.

You really should've phrased the title differently OP, of course that's your opinion, but stating it so bluntly without tact usually doesn't lead to great results.

As for the topic itself, most multiplayer games based around first person shooting bore me pretty easily now. I'm starting to get into fighting games and really want to learn the ins and outs, I'm willing to put time in and get better/do more.

First person shooter multiplayer games feel like a time sink. I've been really good at CoD since 2008, getting good at Titanfall doesn't seem enticing.

You can't do much with the shooter format at this point, I won't fault them for that. At least we get giant robots. That's something, I guess...

Media is hyping it up to be the next mainstream hit ala CoD or GTA, all I see is another multiplayer shooter with robots.
