Mr Driller NOT SO Online - XBLA Refund Story

Mr Driller Online on XBLA is broken, the online doesn't work.

If this was a retail game I would have taken it back for a full refund so instead I called Live Support to do this.

Got through to a guy, it took a while to explain that the game was a XBLA game and that its online which couldn't be checked in the demo was broken for everyone.

Anyway from here I was expecting it to be a pain (no refunds for XBLA, Shitty Xbox support etc.) and to bitch about it on GAF ;) but it was actually sorted in ten mins.

No questions just had to start up the 360, delete the game (which they could tell when this was done there end) and then once checked the points were refunded to my account.

Well done, might re-buy when/if they fix the game but they really should take it down as its not to a acceptable quality.

Anyone else annoyed by this or bought it and got a refund? Had any problems?

Microsoft support is hit or miss. I dealt with them twice and it went very smoothly actually but I've heard more than enough horror stories to know that that isn't necessarily the norm.

I'm glad to hear that it was sorted out so easily.

I definitely was gona get a refund (The "No refunds are available for this item" means nothing in UK consumer rights law anyway), but I was worried about how much hassle it would take.

Really chuffed with the lack of any, the hardest thing was just explaining the game was XBLA and the reason that part of it wasn't functional.

Once that was done, no further questions really, nice guy I spoke too.

It must be the weekend shift. Maybe they are more laid back.

Congrats man. I think you should post a link to this thread in the official Mr. Driller thread as well.

I should do this with SWOS since its online is horrendous.

If they try to give you the runaround, file a claim with the BBB online. Gets them everytime. I handled a lot of beefs that way, especially ebay, when they wouldn't even respoond to my emails.

cool look forward to seeing you how you do and if you experience was the same as mine.
Well, i'm waiting from like 15 minutes as they "look if they can refund me".
This is not looking good...

Wow, they actually hang up the phone on me.
I'm guessing this means "No refund, dear customer".

:lol

Now you:

1. ring up and get this person fired
2. get a refund from someone else
3. ?????????????
4. profit!

Wow they hung up?!?! Wow
This is more of what I was expecting in my call.

Now refund + compensation please.

To clarify I called up

Picked 360, then Problem with games option.

Explained I had just purchased Mr. Driller Online from XBLA. Played the demo which did not have online, then picked it up and tried the online and that part of the game doesn't work.

Checked online and every has the same problem, you just can't play online.

For a resolution I would like a full refund for the game I have purchases please.

this and then speaking me though deleting the game and checking all took 10-15mins.

Try again, ask for compensation due to being hung up on also.

Anyone else getting a refund?
I would love to see this thread turn into descriptions of everyone's experiences of getting this game refunded.

Same, except the last part.

They've hung up on me around 50% of the time I called. I expect it at this stage. I don't think it's deliberate, just crappy phone lines in India.

Yeah, maybe that.
What i know for certain is that i'll have to stick with my Mr. Crapper Online.

So the online absolutely doesn't work? for nobody?

I'm shocked they had released it and still haven't fixed it :S

yeah? your not gona give it another shot?
Maybe tomorrow, i'm gonna kill myself if i have to go trough all of that* and then they hung up.

*I don't know about England and you, but the Italian MS asks you Gamertag, email, telephone number, 4 numbers of the Credit card and other shit.

I'm not. This has happened before and it is one reason I don't rely on XBLA titles for online play.

In my experiences Arkadian Warriors is near unplayable online as well right off the bat. Yeah you go ahead and tell me it's my network connection MS, that is why Halo 3, COD4 and Burnout Paradise play seemlessly. :::rollseyes:::

:lol

Ok man, well good luck tomorrow.

Yeah I got those questions.

Is this still up for sale broken and all or was it pulled like SWOS was?
SWOS was only pulled because it actually signed you out of Live completely, not because of the netcode. The online was still broken when it went back up, and presumably will never be fixed. See also: Speedball 2 and lots of others.

They need to pull it, atleast with SWOS they pulled it and put up the right version.

I've had few online issues with XBLA games I've purchased early but Mr Driller Online's Online is completely broken for everyone and isn't fit for sale.

Yeah, I do love it when I see "There are no refunds available on these items" and "this does not affect your statutory rights".

Well my statutory rights say I can get a refund in certain circumstances... so bend over. :lol

Not even the graphics in this were upgraded, right? That's one of the main reasons why I didn't buy it.

No, actually...They were DEgraded. That was the reason I wasn't snagging this even before the online issues surfaced.

Outside the title screen and its awesome music, this is a terrible release in its current form.

XBLA quality control continues to mystify.
I know. Some company complain of months of delays while the XBLA QA team checks their game, and yet when the game comes out its obviously broken. Makes no sense.

how bad must have some of these games been before the QA ? :)

Every time I've dealt with them, it's been painless. But then, the stories you hear on the internets...

we are the lucky ones.
