Nintendo and Fuse Games release a new DS title (WTF?)

Fuse Games, developer of Mario Pinball Land and Metroid Prime Pinball, has recently released a new DS title two or three weeks ago: Active Health with Carol Vorderman.

Is it just me who thinks WTF? Even more when I saw the game uses the Activity Meter and is published by Nintendo. Was there any announcement? The game is UK-only.

The software, however, doesn't seem half as bad. Compatibility with Wii Fit, recipes as well as walking challenges.

Fuse Games' original DS game (Kirby) was probably cancelled, sadly.

I was sure this was by the people that did Walk With Me - did Fuse have a hand in that too?

Apparently this is the more gamey of the two walking tools, but as I have the other one (still using it too) I'm not going for this.

I'll bank on it going international once they staple the relevant celebrities to it.

It isn't selling badly, but like WWM it hasn't taken off despite TV ads for both.

Wait, this is actually out? Usually, I'm right on top of my Nintendo releases but this one slipped right past my radar. Wait, did you say Fuse Games? As in the Pinball games company?

Shocking facts that blew my mind aside; A quick search on it revealed a bit of a shortfall: There is only one save profile. The customer reviews at Amazon show quite a few customers are very annoyed and they should be as compare to Walk with me/Personal Trainer:Walking(?) which has 4 and heck even Brain Training has 3 profiles. Aside from Pokémon I can't think of the last time a Nintendo published game had one profile.

From my experience neither have any specific number of save profiles! I presumed that this works the same as Walk With Me but each Activity Meter is a save file - and only one person (or dog) can use the Activity Meter at a time. When we switched my spare from the dog to the GF it still had the previous steps that day for the dog logged on.

To get more save files on Walk with me you have to buy the solo pedometers which I haven't actually seen on sale yet.

Ed: and for ref My UK walk with me thread with more details, and the USA version. Neither really got updated as it's kind of a solo activity kind of thing.

Nintendo's website. We managed to lose one temporarily and had to buy a replacement. Stupid expensive though.

Prime Pinball is an awesome game. And they tried to do a Kirby game? Awwwww. This and BGE2, ... I hate Mondays. :(

That's what Surfergirl said and there's no reason to doubt it then.

Carol Vorderman is the most fap worthy celeb on british tv. Actually i heard a story while i was working on a building site over there......

:lol

But even with their small headcount (a dozen or so, I think), this couldn't have taken that long to make, what the hell have they been doing for the past four years? Also, when did they become a first-party?

Edit: From a 2007 Develop profile:
Since then, production has been ramping up on Fuse's next game - the team can't say what it is yet, or who the publisher is, what format it's on, or whether it will be related to another well known game character. Nintendo? Wii? Kirby?

Barritt's lips are sealed, except to hint that the game is a "a big departure" for the team, which suggests pinball isn't on the menu - although with the team planning to increase capacity to multiple projects pinball probably won't be forgotten.

Why on earth did Nintendo get Fuse games to work on a game that is fundamentally similar to Walk with Me? (Yes I know it is slightly different with the food reccommendations and celebrity endorsement, but it still seems a bit redundant)

Why not? Hasn't it historically been proven not to think about the logic of Nintendo to avoid brain pain?

This is more like a cross between That Cooking Book and WiiFit and Walk With Me. It actually gets you to do things. It's for the diet crowd.

WWM is completely passive and doesn't care if you miss targets - it's just a big counting machine. It's for the stat fiends and the walkers out there.
