Is this limited edition console thing going too far?

I really want the MGSV PS4 and the Destiny PS4, but I had already bought the white PS4 and I got a black PS4 for $200 a while back.

I have a problem.

The problem with these things is that it's difficult to switch from console to console. I guess with cloud saves it's not really a big deal. But for 3DS, that's a huge pain.

It's waaaay easier with Sony and Microsoft, as if you need to you can just redown your stuff.

It's not even half as easy to do with Nintendo consoles.

I have a White Ps4, a 20th Anniversary Ps4, and now I want the other White Destiny TTK PS4.

But I am not going for a 3rd lol.

We have all these LE PS4s and Xbox's and close to no LE Wii-Us.

The only Wii-U LE we have is that lame Wind Waker one that only has a gold print on the controller.

Im hoping they will make an all Gold Wii-U for the new Zelda.

I generally like the Xbox limited editions. I preordered the Halo 5 Xbox One. I just don't think anyone else is playing on that level of custom consoles. A few Zelda hardware editions looked great.

Less is almost always more then it comes to LE consoles. The Halo Xbone looks pretty bad IMO, but not atrocious like some potentially are.

Every game that comes out seems to get a limited edition PS4, is it going too far?

I mean hasn't Destiny had two now?

Thoughts? Is it getting daft now or is it the greatest thing for the players?

Edit:
I'm not mad about them, just wondered what general opinion was on the amount of LE's announced that's all.

Where were you last gen when everything came out on the 360 was basically an LE?

Too bad MS lost a ton of exclusives so now you see more LE PS4.

Last gen we didn't have any so I made sure I got one this gen. Was in queue for the 20th anniversary didn't get one. Refused to pay the eBay price. Wanted the mgs v LE console but didn't want to pay that import price, so I settled for the silver batman Arkham knight ps4 because of the controller. Odd thing is the console looks better in person but the controller looks worse.

Should've just kept my black one

The Halo 5 console? I think it looks pretty awesome actually, especially with the Locke/Chief controller motif.

I love seeing consoles getting a fresh coat of paints, so I don't think it could ever go too far in my eyes. Calling them "limited editions" is kind of silly, though - I see so many "limited editions" every time I'm in Walmart, Best Buy, and Target it's just silly.

I think there's been a few too many of them as of late. Some look nice, but others aren't all that great and bring the term cash grab to mind.

I do love some, though, like the R2D2 Xbox 360 which I still want.

Besides the fact that most of them are significantly uglier than a stock console, its not a big deal.

The "retro PS4" LE should have been much more widely available, because that was one of the rare "cool" looking LE consoles.

It's cool, but it sucks buying a regular version at full price then seeing a limited edition version that looks very cool come up a month later.

I wish console makers takes a cue from Nintendo and allows the faceplates/consoles have interchangable plates so you can still have that Limited Edition Console.

But the reason why we have those consoles in the first place is to help drive sales. :/

I think you are over exaggerating.
