Resident Evil 4 uses audio from Dino Crisis

Was playing RE4HD on PS3 and got to the Del Lago boss. Noticed that when he is charging at you his roar sounded familiar. Never picked up on this before and haven't seen any mention of it anywhere. They sound pretty identical to me. I can say that maybe Del Lago has a higher pitch, but i'm almost certain they used the same source.

Del Lago Roar (Kind of hard to hear unless you turn your volume up, haven't found a better source):
Dino Crisis

Dino Crisis secretly living on through what many consider is the best game of all time. Wonder if there are any other capcom games that reuse assets of any kind from DC.

I think I can hear the similarity but can't say they're the same sound for sure. Most dinosaur roars kind of sound the same in movies and games.

Would be cool if someone can confirm this.

It definitely sounds like a distorted alteration of the Dino Crisis audio, which was probably distorted after being purchased from a stock library of audio files.

Sounds like it's the same, but altered in pitch or sped up slightly. I've recognised it before, but didn't really think much more about it.

Didnt realize how great Dino Crisis looked even with the PS1 graphics.

Are the games vita compatible?

Yes they are. Playable on Vita and Vita TV.

I pitched the Dino Crisis one up in Audacity to match the RE one, and it does actually seem like the same sound. Good catch.

Both games were directed by Mikami, right? Did they share any sound designers in common?

I wouldn't be surprised if it's a stock sound from a sample pack or something too.

I never found the source of the Dino Crisis sounds, though they probably are from some old stock sound pack from ages ago.
This just caught my ear since only game I know of with this particular roar is dino crisis, and I figured it was the same but with a slightly different pitch.
Glad that has been confirmed. Guess I just have to look and see if the original source of the files are somewhere.

EDIT: The only person in both credits is Atsushi Mori, and he's just a special thanks in RE4.
Special thanks for making this one sound probably lol.

Fairly sure they both come from a sound library because the Dino Crisis trex roar was in an early trailer for Telltale's Jurassic Park before they put in the sounds from the film.

They need to remaster DC and DC2 remake style. Keep the gameplay same but update the pre rendered background with modern technology. I know DC featured 3d backgrounds. Imagine it remade with frostbite engine or unreal 4 engine.

I'll need to check this out, i do remember it wasn't the original roar when first revealed. Thankfully thy changed that.

OP is fiending so hard for some dino crisis, capcom needs to throw him a bone :(

At this point my high hope is Dino crisis 1&2 on steam at least .

Munch... stop. Its time to stop Munch.

I bought a sound effect collection on set of four audio CD's more than two decades ago.

I heard several effects from that collection in Silent Hill 4: The Room.

It's really jarring to recognize an effect like that. No it wasn't the burping nurses.

This isn't entirely uncommon. The sound might not even have originated from either game. You know the squeaking door sound in the loading screen of the original RE? It's in everything.

I heard that other game series does things like this too. I remember Harada mentioning that they kept using voices from Tekken back on Playstation and they just kept adapting the old voice data to newer software, until Tekken 6, where they got new voice actors since the voice data was too outdated for the technology. Harada also voiced some of the characters like the Laws up till T6.

A guy found all the sample packs that the vocals and stuff from Sonic Rush and Jet Set Radio's music comes from and hearing them by themselves was totally surreal.
