Street Fighter 5 has sold 1.4 Million Units across PS4 + PC

Here's hoping they keep at it with those monthly-ish updates.

It mentioned digital sales are included in that figure though. They can't have estimated sold to consumer digitals and sold to retailers? Or would they? Even if it shipped though the number surprised me greatly.

When you write "shipped" you're basically including both sold and shipped copies to retailers, however, if you write only "sold", the numbers may be inferior because they count only how many people have bought the game

Man people really want this game to fail lol
And I just don't know why.

Yes the game shipped in an incomplete state, but you're gonna get the rest of the game eventually. You're entitled to the full product and you will still get it.

And the actual fighting in this game is SO GOOD. Every match is fun.

seems pretty low for such a well known franchise. how much do the mortal kombat games sell?

MKX sold over 5M copies in 6 months.
SFV has 1.4M in 3 months.

Not really fair to compare them. Idk what MKX's first month sales are but they're 2 different leagues sales-wise.

Either way SFV had a horrible launch, Capcom learned their lesson and apologized multiple times and they still sold way under their predicted amount so it's another slap to their faces by shutting out casuals and everyone who's not a hardcore FGC member. We just have to keep it going and pray they keep delivering additions to this game. That's all I gotta say to those dudes. I'll play it but they better keep their word for all the stuff this game doesn't have like they've said they would.

Resident Evil 7 by the end of next March?

Rumors were at less than a million, even some spoke of less than half of that. Some of us are quite pleased to see it did better than that. Some are very displeased that it's not the hyper bomba they would have like it to be.

SFV has a lot of problems but it's amazingly good at its core, so a somewhat good peace of news regarding its financial health is nice for the few of us who have not forgotten the game yet.

I was expect about ~1.5 million.

A bit under than what i thought honestly... And i don't see this game break 2 million before the end of the year At best.

It kind of reminds me of the situation the new Hitman is is, in that a ton of the discussion you see is bitching about the release model, online etc, so much that it almost drowns out that the actual game is probably the best in the series so far.

Sales of this level should have been what was expected. People severely over estimated a fighting games's uptick.

Nah, following this game from reveal to launch, they gave it a good amount of publicity (Comic Con, Evo, various international game expos) & the overall reception seemed amicable all along the way.

The 2 mil sounded plausible given the brand name & exposure, they just fucked up in the final hours.

Better then I expected :O

Yeah so well hopefully they learned that a rush release and not having everything that people wanted / expected hurt sales.

And DON'T take away that people don't want SF anymore.

Not fair to compare a full game vs a over priced demo ;)

Much more than I expected. Early reports really showed a disastrous launch. Guess the huge of these sales are digital on ps4 as it didn't show on charts.

And it makes sense as it a game you want on hdd instead of swapping disk

LOL at commenting sales data below Capcom's own expectations being "wanting this game to fail". GAF gonna GAF.

Thats pretty good numbers considering its launch. I even stopped playing it, but been thinking of getting back to it again soon. Just waiting for more updates to entice me.

There have been quite a few people in previous threads that considered this game to be trash, Capcom to be thieves and wanted this game to just drop dead and be an utter failure [paraphrasing]

Only 1.4?

Street Fighter VI cancelled?

I doubt they budgeted the base game for more than 500,000 copies sold, given how slow updates are rolling out and how poor the communication's been. I know their expectations were 2 million, but it was clearly made on the cheap.

And just saying, MMX selling less than UMvC3 is a fucking travesty.
It's a mistake comparing directly sales between different ages.
Videogames industry grew in size generation after genereation, retails now absorb much more units.

Wouldn't surprise me if many of those units were shipped before the "horrendous start".

I would be. Regardless, I'm hoping for the game to pick up and sell well especially once they have more of their updates rolling in.

Ah, I see. I got confused due to their inclusion of digital sales.

?

I'm only saying this based on the quality of both games. I know the industry's grown and evolved and why UMvC3 sold that much. It's the same as me saying something like "Vigilante 8 should have sold 2x more since it was a great game". Just based on quality.

If you look at it from a consumer stance and not only from a FGC enthusiast, I can totally see why. Heck, even as a gamer and FGC wannabe I can relate.

Not fantastic, but far from the dismal figures we've seen elsewhere. Honestly the game deserved to take a hit because of the poor shape it was released the in, but the game itself plays great.

Hopefully they can recover as they update the game and sales will continue.

Man people really want this game to fail lol

I'm glad Capcom got flogged for releasing in such a broken, half-finished state, but since I was stupid enough to buy it and a fight stick I'm hoping other people start buying it in large enough quantities to justify support after season 1.

That's what makes this news so sweet.

"but, but, but, they said 2 million!" "What about March??" "It's a demo!" " 1.4?? NNNOOoOoOoOoo..."

People proclaiming that it already failed and talking about it in a past tense.

Delicious.
