Because every thread about any socialist country (example, Venezuela) seems to devolve into a back-and-forth rah-rah session of Socialism vs Capitalism vs Liberalism vs *ism, here is a catch all thread to complain/promote/whine/cheer about socialism to your heart's content.

Meanwhile, the other threads can get to discussing without seeing the same posts repeated from thread to thread.

Good luck with that. People are going to have discussions on or related to the thread topics in which they post. Unfortunately for socialism, most real world attempts have sucked. Trying to confine that observation to one thread so you don't have to read it is silly and counterproductive.

And the same goes for the opposite. Capitalism certainly has its flaws and the discussion around those has equal merit.

Unfortunately for most threads, the topic is ignored and most real world attempts to discuss the issues have sucked because they've gotten derailed by cheerleading.

If there was actual substantive discussion going on that'd be great. Instead it's usually a bunch of drive-by posts that follow a pattern of:

* Socialism sucks!
* Well that's not REAL socialism!
* But the Nordics!
* They're democratic!

While the actual thread topic is lost.

So here it is. If there is so much of a desire to hash out the pros-and-cons of socialism, let's see all of those thought-provoking arguments put forth. :)

I'm just going to say, a global "one size fits all" solution doesn't work, and have never worked, no matter the system. It ridiculous for the people who defend global capitalism, assuming it works everywhere, and it's also ridiculous for people who defend socialism, because the systems hasn't really worked comprehensively.

But discussions are kind of unproductive, because it's just people talking abstractly about other people's experiences.

I'd say democratic socialism has been very successful in some key countries.
