What is it? A VR Rick and Morty game.
Hardware support? SteamVR and Rift
(requires tracked controllers)
When? Now.
Where? Here.

Features:
  • It's your favorite 2D characters in 3D. It's RICK AND MORTY VR! They're 3D now!
  • Probe, prod, throw, and smash iconic items like the Plumbus.
  • Also, it's got this thing!
  • Teleport around rooms and walk through portals.
  • No really! You walk with your actual feet through virtual portals!
  • Get yelled at by Rick, and question your own self worth.
  • Smack Rick in the face.
  • Real fake doors!

We really don't know much more right now. Here are some screenshots, I'll be back with impressions soon:

Also, a Plumbus.

Though that's not very exciting since everyone has one of these and knows what it does.

So I have a Vive. My friend doesnt. Im not really into Rick and Morty so he says he's gonna a buy it to play on my vive. Is there any word on length? Don't want him to spend $30 on a short game and be disappointed.

Trailer is fantastic and I'll be checking this out tonight.

No launch discount though? Just checking as don't want to buy if they slap a little discount on there in an hour...

This game seems like Job Simulator with a Rick and Morty Skin. I'll probably wait for a sale since I am not that familiar with Rick and Morty

There's a couple of people on Twitch streaming it. It looks interesting. It's like getting another episode of season 3, sorta.

Definitely getting this. Hopefully I'll be able to donate my genitals to Shrimply Pibbles for the greater good of the universe.

Initial impressions (after 30 minutes):
  • It's not as frantically paced as Accounting (no one screaming in your ear all the time, as people put it).
  • The gameplay is a lot more interesting than Job Simulator (which I wasn't personally a huge fan of). Actual puzzles rather than just straight up following instructions.
  • The physicality and interaction of all the items is of really high quality. This is something I'm quickly starting to recognize as "polish" in VR. E.g. I can take a cup, fill it with half booze and half of an unidentifiable substance, drink some, put it on the counter, and smash it with a hammer (depending on how fast I swing it otherwise I might just nudge it). None of this has anything to do with a puzzle, it's jsut something you can do and it feels natural.
  • It's one of the "most room-scale" games I've played on Vive. You teleport, but just between room parts. I think this works excellently, since you never need to worry about running into a wall and can move much more naturally as a result.
  • It's funny (obviously).
  • It's technically solid.

Getting back in now.

Glad to hear your first impressions are positive, Durante. I know exactly what you mean about VR "polish", and I agree. I think I'll pick this up sooner than later.

Love it. Cant wait to boot it up with my Vive and see.

This looks absolutely amazing I might pick it up. The Job Simulator devs have a level of polish I can't seem to find in pretty much any other VR game. Not to say other VR games aren't good or immersive (they are) but they are just on another level.

okay, there's a kind of ROY game, called TROY! You can retry it with a lot of different outcome, it's really funny!

The game in itself isn't that interesting, but everything that happens is like a true rick and morty episode, especially when jerry talks to you through a door (yeah they didn't have time to model it i guess?)

Should I be familiar with Rick and Morty? I guess it would help for sure.
It will certainly make it much more enjoyable. Tons of references, some very subtle, some as subtle as a brick.

I totally love the game now after playing some more, however, I'm now at around 2 hours playtime and if I interpret the "chapter select" feature correctly I've completed more than half of it. I'll keep the rest for another day, just thought I'd mention that. Personally I don't mind paying 27€ for what looks do be a ~3.5 hour experience (if you do everything), since I realize that developing a polished room-scale game right now is a difficult financial proposition, but if you do mind you should be aware.

Took me around 2 hours, not counting the parts where I got stuck for a while. That engine parts puzzle got to me. I must have spend about 3 hours in total.

The Troy game has got split paths so I'll have to replay that several times to check out all the paths.

Apparently there are some unlockable easter eggs and stuffs too

I also found a mix tape under that thing where you fix the engine.
