I'm totally noobish with my iphone. Can someone direct me how to use these ringtones?
Really easy:

1. Download the desired ring tone
2. Connect your phone to iTunes
3. Drag and drop ring tone files to your phone
4. On your phone, open Settings -> Sounds
5. You should see a list of tones. Click the one you want to change.
6. Your custom sound will be listed first in Ringtones.
7. Select desired custom ringtone.

All done!

Heh anyone else change all their alert tones but after being so used to the default ones, now when they go off you're trying to remember what tone you set that for?

Yeah. Also, I'm trying to find the right balance between interesting tones and ones that aren't excessively annoying.

Is there a way to TURN OFF the text sent tone? Even if I put None for text sounds it still has "woomp" sound when I send a message.

Anyone have some Star Trek sound effects? I am loving the Starfleet cases from Think Geek, and want a few Star Trek sounds to complete the package. Something like the sound when they press their comm badges. Anyone got links?

SCORE! My nerd phone is almost complete! Thank you.

No problem. That site has a ton of good tones on it. I snatched up a handful of star trek tones, some good Lost tones, and a few game tones here or there. Enjoy.

Trying to find some of the newer Trek comm badge sounds too.

Will be following this thread, a lot of awesome ringtones so far.

I really wish you could change the lock/unlock sounds on the iPhone. I want my sounds to be the door opening and closing from Portal 2 :(

Or the codec open/close sounds from MGS.

That would be a good one too, although I've never played an MGS game, so it wouldn't appeal to me as much.

I do know that sound and like it though.

So I just discovered that in addition to

Custom Default Ringtone
Custom Default Text Tone
Custom Personalized Ringtone

you can also have

Custom Personalized Text Tone

Sooooo that fucking rocks. Now I know when my dad calls, AND when he texts. YES. This is so fucking cool.

Isn't it great? I know the iPhone is behind the times in this regard, but I'm still excited by it. I use the zelda heart-get sound for my girlfriend, for instance. It's a satisfying sound.

Can I request Daft Punk - Human After All?

The beginning seems to be a great piece for a ringtone or parts of the middle once they start humming.

This thread is awesome! My old custom ringtones were erased when I upgraded to the 4S, so all these gaf contributed ringtones and custom alerts make my 4S so much better!

question with iOS 5 do i still need iTunes to throw ringtones etc. on my phone !?

For free, yes. You can get ringtones and other sounds from iTunes Tones Store for a nominal fee without the aid of a computer.

Question - please help!

I've loaded a few custom tones on my iPhone and they've all synced fine and I can preview them through the settings (and I've set them), but none of them play when I get a text or someone calls me; the phone plays the boring default tones. Does anyone know what's up? Again, they preview fine, but they're not being set as my tones.

I had that problem, a simple restart (Turn off phone and 10 sec wait, turn on) worked for me

Does anybody have any Entourage (Anything wit Ari) or Curb Your Enthusiasm (Larry saying "That's Pretty, pretty, pretty good." For a text tone?

If anyone also has Starfox 64 "Do A Barrel Roll!" for a text tone, that'd be awesome too!

Oh this thread is pretty sweet.

If someone can, he or she should make the mailtoad sound from galaxy AND THE UNCHARTED MULTIPLAYER (TEAM)KILL SOUND!!

I would be eternally gratefull.

Wasn't quite sure which ringtone thread to post in, but since I don't want to necro a thread, I'll go with this one.

While I think the MGS codec sound is one of the best ringtones along with the Power Rangers beeper sound, I don't know how people can stand the MGS Alert/! sound as their text/alert/notification sound. I feel like I'd freak the hell out at every e-mail, text, whatever. Zelda item/puzzle solved and Mario power ups for me.

Someone please tell me that there is a text-tone for the lady who says "Hot Pockets!!". Lol. It amuses me and I'd love to have it for my texts.

Are iTunes ringtones compatible with Blackberries? A friend needs a ringtone made, which I know how to do in GarageBand, but I don't know if they work with BB.

itunes ringtones are .m4r, so if the bb can play that sound file, then it will work. otherwise, you can probably just convert it to mp3 using itunes.
