EA Origin Deals Thread: Anybody?? [50% Off Sale This Weekend (May 26th/27th)]

How did they fail?
I get EA sales discounts on Steam but no on their own store. Yeah, I can see myself using it Origins more in the future... :roll. Plus, for some reason, they block my country on other stores like D2D and GG.

But I guess is a step up from the old EA store where they redirected me to EA Spain and charged me in Euros + VAT.

yeah, stock up on Bioware points

you can get $10 for $4 right now, it's sure to come in handy

got $20 in points, will try to save them for ME3

Everything shows up normal price for me. I'm in the Origin client.

Edit - Huh, I logged out and back in and it works now. Whatever.

Is there some kind of limit to this deal? I tried getting Alice, 800 Bioware points, and then 1600 bioware points (since you can't add multiples of 1 item in the cart) and I'm only getting 60% off of the set of 800 points and Alice. Not the 1600 bioware points.

There seems to be some things that simply aren't discounted. The 800 BW points package is, but the 1600 package is not. You'll have to make separate purchases of the 800 BW package.

it's pretty wacky

I used the code, and it wasn't accepted, but then when I backed out and searched for the bioware points, the discount was applied

just buy one item at a time

Oh? I figured the code would only work once. I'll gladly do that!

I never got a chance to play any of the Mass Effect 2 DLC, so I'm getting tons of points so I can pick all them up and still have some extra points for when the ME3 DLC inevitably arrives.

Thanks!

Thanks!

I logged out and back in to Origin and the 800 points package was simply discounted by default to $4. There was no code required.

So no nice deals for EU? I was just thinking about downloading origin and trying it out. But if the deals are not happening here, why bother?

I wonder if a free VPN like Hotspot Shield would fool Origin into thinking Europeans are actually purchasing from the states... I have a UK account but I'm currently in the Netherlands and it is giving me the European store with prices in Euros, so it isn't tied to whatever country you say you are in when you sign up.

OO did not kno the discount worked on bioware pts. I have yet to play through the any of the games but ME2 dlc is like never discounted guess I'll pick them up and possibly more for ME3.

edit:so for ME2 all I need are kasumi, overlord, shadow broker, and arrival right?

That are the story DLCs and they are all good. Shadow Broker and Kasumi are among the best DLCs out there (IMO) and Overlord is a nice side quest. Arrival is the weakest of these but very important to the overall story (I would guess, havn't read anything ME3 yet) but after what happend in arrival I would be surprised if no consequences follow in ME3.

The firepower pack can also be recommended. Basically you get 3 new weapons (a heavy pistol, an assault rifle and a shotgun). All three are pretty good and among the best and most fun to use weapons in the game.

Maybe I'm just a weapon nerd or whatever but I would definitely get the firepower pack. The other two item packs are less important, though I did like the armors they added (especially the Kestrel suit).

Does the code work on Battlefield 3? I reckon not? Can I do it with a proxy or something?
It doesn't work on pre-orders or Fifa 12 (I think there's already a -$10 Fifa deal).

i got through with my VPN but it doesn't work on any of the sweet stuff.

if 60% worked for BF3 could have bagged the LE for £15.00, ah well

Thanks for pointing out that this will work on Bioware Points. 60% off those DLCs is a pretty good deal. Too bad the interesting DLCs don't work out to exactly 1600 points. I'm going to have some left over.

Sweet. Stacked up on points to finally buy the ME2 DLC(been waiting forever for it to go on sale) but wonder if I should do the same for ME3. It might use season pass which might be more worth it than buying points.

Is anyone else getting the 'This payment method is only available for transactions where you have elected to purchase in Euros.' message at the top of checkout page? I was about to buy some points but I'd rather not pay in Euros for no reason.

I got that too when I tried to buy points and didn't bother because it wouldn't let me use Paypal. I was able to buy four games before I tried the points and that purchase let me use Paypal. Not sure what the points issue is but I would like to get those points for Shadow Broker.

Good deals otherwise, though.

Bah that sucks. I was considering picking up Dead Space 2 but I probably wouldn't even get a chance to play it for a few months anyway.

When i try to checkout in the origin app nothing happens, just sits there saying processing...
And the promo codes dont work on the origin site?

Stocked up on some bioware points this past weekend when they were on sale. My body is ready for Mass Effect 3.

Speaking of, you can get a 20 dollar coupon towards your next purchase by pre ordering ME3. Probably going to bite.

30% off discount code. doesn't work on new releases :\

and code expires the day it might work lol.
anyways if anyone wants the code for other games quote to see it.

Origin60 code still active?
no

I just had a pop-up after exiting BF3 saying they had FIFA 12 for $16. But it's still $39.99... What gives?

edit: I swear to god it was 12 and I even saw Rooney yelling the deal at me...

Why am I getting a pop-up Origin add that says FIFA Soccer 12 is only $16, but when I click on "Buy Now" it is still $40?

Fucking Origin.

It's been all over the news last week. The Origin EULA is against the German law so everyone has the right to return Origin games like Battlefield 3 or Fifa 12 for a full refund of the purchase price.

Battlefield 3 (PC) is the lowest rated game on amazon.de , a petition to ban Battlefield 3 in Germany already reached 10.000 signatures. Origin is classified as spyware in the German media.

Data protection organizations are already preparing an investigation against EA.

The petition and a lot of press links can be found here:

Keep in mind that the Germans are mostly PC players so EAs fucked up EULA caused an outrage among German gamers.

I heard about this and wondered why it wasn't showing up more on GAF if it was true, considering BF3 just came out.

Because the whole thing is based on paranoid ravings by people who don't know how to interpret Process monitor logs. Origin isn't constantly reading through your files to spy on you. The screen shots were made when Origin was recursively reading a few directories for games to add to library. This is a one time action and no information is actually sent to EA servers.
