Information
What
An event that Google is holding where they'll presumably announce their Music marketplace.

Where
Los Angeles, CA

When
Wednesday, November 16th, 2011
2:00pm PST (see what time it is in your time zone)
Watch it live on youtube.com/android

Liveblogs

Leaks/rumors/news

I'll keep updating the op right up until the event itself

I got my invite yesterday, I haven't added much, still debating if I want to add my entire library or not, I just don't listen to music much its all podcasts now.

It will be good but it will also be the typical elitist select few have it first then we roll out mega slowly to the rest of the common folks type of launch. Honestly that turns me off all their products now

rumors are no streaming service, but who knows. rumors also that you can share songs with friends
I can't find any way to share with friends, but I can verify that I'm able to stream music I added last night to my galaxy s2 skyrocket.

Whatever it is, Canada will probably be left out. I'll still watch it, anyways :P

But I'm Canadian and use Google Music every day? :)

You must be pretty bitter these days if you find the concept of beta testing to be offensive.

I heard about that weird sharing thing. Listen to it once on Google+? Meh.

Google Music is still beta as of now. Any sharing stuff won't go live until this evening after the event.

They better get that Cloudc album that isn't available anywhere.

no idea what it is, some say 5 times. Its a nice option to have but not sure if its a killer deal. Not sure what would prevent them from having a streaming service, i mean its almost a toss in at this point as far as label deals go.

I can't speak for planar but what i find somewhat annoying (I would never say it was offensive) is how Google has talked about music several times in the past at two I/O conferences two years in a row. and they either did not deliver a product after revealing it or they launched a beta and kept that beta going for months and months.

If they're gonna be talking about their music services again, this time they really need to just launch it publicly. or they should just be quiet till they're ready.

Just searched through the css file, of the Android Market, and there's tons of references to the phrase "music". Looks like everything is in place for tomorrow :D

thats been there for a while actually, along with icons, etc

That's cool although unless they can somehow do better than Amazon MP3s prices, I can't see myself ever buying from them. I uploaded some albums to Google Music but since I can't even listen to the Apple songs I bought pre iTunes+, I was pretty disappointed with it. If they add last.fm scrobbling, I'd be more inclined to use it.

I'm finding Google Music to be a nice extension of my podcast listening. If it's a show I like but I don't NEED to keep all of the back episodes locally, I upload it to Google. That way, should I want to listen to an older show, I know they're there, but they aren't taking up precious room on my local drives.

It's one of the nice parts of Google Music being about how many tracks you have, not their file size.

Seeing as they've dedicated an entire event for it, I guess they're ready to launch it publicly.

Obviously this is just ONE SONG, but in some of the leaked screenshots, Google was shown selling a Green Day song for $1.30. Pretty sure Amazon doesn't sell any MP3 for that much, and that particular song was $0.99 on Amazon.

and I thought this even was tonight for some reason. EH.

So if google is having a music store does that mean they have also improved the stock android music player?
The ICS build is not bad at all. Its pretty wonderful, actually.

beta testing by other companies is to everyone. Google Beta tests by providing services to technology elites and tech journalists over common users. You need to be friends of these people to get into it. Other products pick and choose common people to beta test. That is a big difference and I very much do not prefer Google's approach of elitism over product launches.

Hopefully this doesn't end up like another Google+

that you hate it and constantly posted about it until everyone was so annoyed by you that they were punching their screens?

T-Mobile Prediction

They will either:

A) Offer carrier billing for buying music through the Google Music store
B) Allow their customers to stream all of Google Music's catalog -- at a discounted rate

Less Likely -- But God Do I Wish Prediction

A) They will demo the new Google Music store on a Galaxy Nexus running on T-Mo's network -- and announce it's coming "soon"

Most Likely

A) They will demo the new Google Music store... on a boring old Nexus S.

lol, the Less Likely would be amazing. Especially if they had a date... even if that date is January, to announce a date before the "exclusive" carrier would be hilarious

I'll take a Demo if the Tmobile girl is the one doing it.

I will also accept the Hispanic Tmobile girl:

I hope they integrate closely with existing library of songs. I already uploaded my thousands of songs to Music.

Yeah, for sure. T-Mobile will definitely get dibs after Verizon; the only question is when. January seems like a safe bet.

I will say that I've heard murmurs of people asking T-Mobile reps when they're getting the Galaxy Nexus and being given the response "in about a month." Huge grain of salt there.
