One in five young Germans prefer internet to sex

i would have to have ALOT of sex everyday for me to give up the internet for a year

ALOT... I think after a week or a month I might just go back to the internet

then again I remember checking gaf on my phone whist having sex....

>_>

I'm not going without the internet for a year to have sex. I'll go without sex for a year, no internet for a year sounds shittier. I can see myself adjusting to the idea much later down my life, but right now--hell no.

Well no internet for a year means I lose my job, so give me the internet.

"noting that 57 per cent said it was more important for their quality of life to have a balcony than a fast online connection."

...........what?

That's fucking weird to me too...does the rush of balcony air quite affect the current older German populace that much? We need a study on this.

I like how some of the replies are tacit approval; a not-very-subtle attempt to condole themselves that their own lack of sex is a healthy lifestyle.

Get off the internet, guys, for your own well-being.

Well, you've clearly never had a balcony! If you did, you could tell!

I haven't either. And I'm surprised 57 percent of the respondents have too.

Lol, there's a sparkling moment to save for the memoir. Did the other person notice?

I always wonder: isn't 1016 people a bit low to come up with statements like 'One in five Germans', especially if you limit it to young people already.

But I can understand it. Young people have spent several years without sex, but a lot less without Internet. They know they can survive the former.

Definitely Internet over sex.
I went sexless for 4 years without a problem, but going without Internet?
Nah, no way.

I am a 27 year old German btw.

Being as I spend a very good portion of my time on the net, gaming, browsing, etc. It'd probably be harder to give up the net.
Especially when I haven't had it at home for a week and I'm already getting desperate to get back to some online gaming. And I need the internet at work and Uni and stuff.

Most people would probably choose the internet if they actually thought about it. I'm so uninterested in having sex that I sometimes think I'm asexual.

So the question is give up sex for a year vs give up internet for a year?

I also don't get if the 'young germans' include virgins or not..

Most people? Really? You think the most powerful drive of the human species would just fade away if people THOUGHT about it?

Not to insult you, but you strongly underestimate what people want. Half of the internet IS SEX. People are just too lazy, too uneducated, too scared, to go and do the work it would take to get it. Whereas a few clicks of a button and you can relieve any sexual tension.

Makes sense :
- internet has become a every day, every hour (even every minute, for some) usage
- even if you get sex 2hours a day, there's still about 10 hours left for something to do ~

I think it would be more interesting to ask :
Would you rather have sex or browse the web during the week-ends ?
I'm sure the statistics would be very different.

congrats on your ability to procure sex.

I'd think most people couldn't go a week or two without sexual activity before they start getting extremely agitated and sexually frustrated. Even in those 'Contest' threads the majority of users give up long before the time period has passed.

Yeah Dude, you got me, telling people to seriously reassess their mental health about sexuality is TOTALLY a stealth brag. Grow up.

Unless you're saying you NEVER use the internet for porn or masturbation, you already know that everyone here is using the internet as an artificial replacement for social sexual contact.

And no one honestly thinks that's healthy, even if they won't admit it here.

No one thinks it's a fulfilling life to replace arguing online with strangers with actually having a serious, healthy and fulfilling sex life with someone you love.

If you've ever truly had that, you'd give up the internet for a year. Maybe even more.

Sex is great, but being that I'm without a steady relationship, I only have it a couple times a month on average. The internet takes up close to half my waking day every day for probably the last 12 years of my life and not slowing down.

And if I can still look at porn and whatnot, then fuck sex for a year.I don't know what I would do with my life if I didn't have access to the internet for a year (how did I survive my first 12 years of life I do not know - just know that I wasn't having sex either then!)

You're using your own views and assuming that's what everyone needs to do. The bolded sounds like a relationship and I don't need or want that. Been there, gone through all the bullshit one brings. I don't need sex to function at all in my day to day life.

How many of them are on GAF, virgin capital of the Internetz

It's a hard choice (no pun intended), though. I guess I can see the reason, but I still would prefer sex over the internet.

Unless I were living in a country without internet access I don't think I could ever give up the internet for a year. The internet is connected to so much of my life. I've given up tv for six months now with no issue but the internet is another issue.

Of people that use the Internet, they probably use the Internet more often than they have sex.

If you asked people a decade ago whether they would go without using phones or having sex, I very much doubt many would have chosen sex.

No one thinks it's a fulfilling life to replace arguing online with strangers with actually having a serious, healthy and fulfilling sex life with someone you love.

And yet here you are, arguing online with strangers instead of going out and having sex. So clearly there's at least some value to be had, and people finding access to technology more important to themselves than an evolutionary high is perfectly human.
