LISTEN HERE -- LIVE! -- LISTEN HERE

It's that time of year again when Nintendo World Report combine all their podcasting powers (past and present) and together with you and their powerful friends from 8-4 Play, Giant Bomb, Weekend Confirmed, Player One Podcast and IGN form the (possibly) 12-hour strong, lives-improving, cussing, Greg-missing, prize-distributing and witness-it-live-or-never-laughter-inducing Annual NWR Live Podcast Telethon for Child's Play.

Check out the official site for more information, subscribe to this thread or keep it bookmarked, discuss the event here and elsewhere, spread the word, donate some money (if you have some to spare), listen and have fun!

You have the wrong schedule up. Thats a schedule from either last year or the year before.

Thanks for making this thread however. Really excited.

Thanks for the OT, Goldmund!

Mods, could you please help get the correct schedule (posted by Ondore) into the first post?

Just to clarify, I don't yet have confirmation that Billy will be able to attend. It depends on his travel schedule for work.

I changed the schedule, should be fine now.

I intentionally chose a date before the Wii U launch in the hope that not everyone will have blown all their money yet on games and controllers. ;-)

I just chipped in $25. I probably won't get to hear this live so I hope the recording goes well as I'm looking forward to the 8-4 segment.

Out of curiosity, how much was contributed for last year's Telethon?

Last year's goal was $3200, and we ended up around $3400 as I recall. Some of that came in after the telethon was over, as people hear the recording and go donate before the ChipIn expires.

I wanted to provide an update in case you haven't been watching the NWR event page like a hawk. First, we've confirmed Billy Berghammer as a guest (after all). I spoke with him and Craig, and we've decided to have both of them on a new segment called "3DS Report Card" to replace the less exciting "My Favorite Nintendo Game". I really wanted to have a 3DS-focused segment, and pairing that up with Craig and Billy is just a perfect opportunity.

The other big thing is that we've started a five-day rollout of "Special Prizes". We think these are really awesome prizes and plan to give them away via a special process during the live event (to be explained on the telethon day). The first two Special Prizes are a Gold Nunchuk and a copy of Diamond Trust of London for DS. I'm adding the rest one per night through Friday, so check the event page at NWR for the latest update.

I'm also starting to add the list of other prizes, which will be choose-your-own for anyone who answers a trivia question, gets special recognition on a live call, etc. throughout the telethon. There are several games and lots of collectible swag (including t-shirts), so keep an eye out for additions to those lists as well.

I updated the schedule and prize list.

Hey guys, we're already over $1000, but we've still got a long way to go to meet our goal.

And to sweeten the pot, I was talking to Jonny yesterday, and there's still a special guest left to announce! I won't spoil it, but it's a good one.

With less than 24 hours to go, we're all getting really pumped and ready to start raising some money for Child's Play!

Actually, I got permission to announce that extra guest today: David Ellis of 343 Industries (and formerly of 1up) will reunite with Garnett Lee to help us talk about Metroid Prime. Should be quite interesting since David now works on the Halo series!

Wow, that should be really interesting hearing from a current developer, hopefully he'll mention what he (and 343) think of the Wii U.

I think I saw on twitter that David Ellis is going to be on with Garnett for the Metroid Prime talk. I wonder if there any inside stories because I know some Retro guys ended up 343

SOON.

I need to get off my ass and finish these errands so I'll be able to listen uninterrupted.

edit: also, an aside, I just noticed Mark "McDonald" in the OP -- should be MacDonald, I think.

I hope the thread remains in the limelight (that is: the first page), once the beast is (a)live, and people don't just lay back and listen.

Indeed. It might also be a good idea to PM a mod to add to the title "LIVE NOW!" or something when it starts.

:( I have to work 9:30-5 cst. Gonna miss a whole bunch and i was really looking forward to the 8-4 segment :( oh well can't wait for the recording.

Is there going to be a link or something when it goes live?
Will it be accessible via iOS devices or will you need to be at a computer?

Donated what I could this year. I have business to attend to early on, so I'll miss the first few hours. Hopefully it's still going strong later on.

will this be archived? i can't listen to it all. impossible.

Yes, there will be an edited version later like always - but its not the same compared to attending it live ;-)
