Who is getting a PS4?

I'm a little disappointed that no JRPGs were shown today, but I've always been a Sony guy and that isn't about to change. I'll be getting the PS4 day 1 regardless of price.

Day 1. sony really had a great showing. they had enough to satisfy, but left enough to make this E3 potentially awesome.

Dat 8gb GDDR5 bomb. holy fuck.
social aspects... THAT ACTUALLY LOOKED GREAT. never thought i would say that the OS features are making my inner gamer happy. I'd love to use the streaming to watch a new game my friend bought or something like that. plus vita remote play.

They showed that Square Enix video (even if it was old) and said a FF game was coming.

Depends on the final price tag.

I almost can't believe this thing will be 399 €/$ with the 8 GB of GDDR5, a headseat and that 3D camera included.

Also depends, on how fast I can clear my backlog, which is kind of huge at the moment.

hardware looked amazing, games looked beautiful but mediocre. the generational leap wasn't upto snuff

last of us impressed me more than either ps4 game from sony tbh

It's going to be a one console future for me.

Unless MS comes very close spec wise then I'm getting a PS4. I'll be starting my next gen console fund today.

Unless Microsoft seriously wows me, I just might.

I hope there'll be a more 360-like third party pad, though. I can't stand the stick placement on the Playstation.

probably..
but really wondering if they will
(1) Bundle the Eye and Move with every PS4
(2) Make Remote Play, Share features a mandatory feature in every game..
(3) Make a Buy a PS4, Get a Vita at % off Bundle..

they need to do this so the developers can be assured there's a definite install base for the eye/move/vita to make implementing the said features worthwhile..

and (2) is a must..

No way. Sony have always been full of it and yesterday seemed like a lot of vapourware talk. "We want to build the best gaming network ever" -- sure you do. Doesn't everyone?

I'm surprised so many people on here are so eager, most of what was sold yesterday were social networking features. And that's that's the problem, those should be free, and you can't sell your machine on something that culture now regards as being free.

It definitely had some nice features but as usual for these sorts of things there was nothing solid on show.
I wasn't impressed by the graphics. Everyone still looks plastic and the animation looks the same as current gen. Unlike the increase in resolution from ps2 to ps3 which resulted in our favourite origami characters increasing in resolution so they look about toy size -- that didn't happen here. They just look like more refined PS3 games, still lacking in nuance and detail.
Cage's demo wasn't much different from what he's been showing for PS3. I'm pretty sure the test character was Actor David Gant by the way - he did some of the voices for Dark Souls.

It's going to be the first Sony console I won't bother with. You can't judge a single console over a small preview, but at the same time first impressions seem to dig deep.

Outside of Gran Turismo, Sony's efforts are not enough to convince me to keep another console around. What interested me today is going to be available on PC anyway. Why waste my money?

If Dragon Quest hit for it, I'd cave in easily though.

I've never been a big Sony/Playstation fan and nothing in this conference changed anything for me.

I'll likely just be sticking with 3DS/Wii U/PC.

Certainly. The "when" of it depends on price, however; if it's above AUD$599, I'll be waiting for a price cut.

Highly likely, but I do still want to see what MS can bring to the table first. But the PS4 looks first and foremost a games console, and that's what I want. All the rumours on Microsofts new console don't give me that same impression.

Eventually. Not day 1. Launch period is pain, most consoles are better after the die hard fans have potty trained them. :)

I will get one eventually. I never liked Killzone or Infamous so I can't say the software is getting me hyped. I don't care about target renders and bullshots either, you'd think people would have learned from what Sony has shown in the past.

I don't think I'll ever buy a console at launch again.

Waiting to see what Microsoft has to offer. No one is in panic mode over there so i smell somethings brewing. Also, I was not impress with the first party offerings on the ps4.

Oh, any word about the BC? I have too many ps3 games to pay some subscription fee yo have it streamed.

So talked to the missus over dinner tonight and it looks like we'll go the PS4 at launch and get an Xbox for Halo when they go dirt cheap. There's a caveat that minds might be changed based on what Microsoft show, but there were a few factors in our decision.

  • It's likely to have a good combination of Western and Japanese games.
  • Based on rumours, it's more likely to be the purest console out of the two.
  • There's no temptation for Sony to tie it into any operating system or ecosystem. At least not as strong as there is for Microsoft to try and give their own tablets and phones a leg-up on the back of the Xbox.
  • It'll probably experience a wide range of support in New Zealand, both from Sony and the public. I can't rent Wii U games, here. :(
  • It can replace the PS3 as our Blu-ray player and media hub, which means we don't need to buy a separate one.

Already saving.
