By way of Nintendo World Report:

As stated on their website, Yacht Club Games' goal is to make "really awesome original games that fuse modern and retro sensibilities." Collectively, employees of the studio have worked on Contra 4, A Boy and His Blob, Double Dragon Neon, Batman: The Brave and the Bold, Mighty Milky Way, Thor: God of Thunder, and Bloodrayne Betrayal.

Yacht Club Games will be making a product announcement in the coming days.

It seems like Sean Velasco, director of Double Dragon Neon and A Boy and His Blob is at the helm of YCG.

Developer profile interviews are coming back in a big way starting with Issue #2! First up is an exclusive talk with former WayForward designer Sean Velasco, who's just set sail as the Captain of the new Yacht Club Games. He's given us the first look at Yacht Club's first game, and we totally dig it. Can't wait for you all to get to see it too!

Why split from Wayforward? Don't they get a lot of creative freedom and make more original games than not?

But I guess they want to make stuff that is out of Wayforward's comfort zone?

Strap on your hooker ...
I seem to remember hearing that Mighty Switch Force had to be dumbed down pretty significantly at the behest of Wayforward's boss, who's awful at games.

I can understand where that would create some resentment.

huh are they going to NOT make it hard to find their games in Europe this time?
I mean on DS that was hell on earth to try to catch a copy of their stuffs!

Wayforward games always look pretty but, IMO, gameplay and design is where the fall behind. Hopefully this company handles things better.

Who chose their company name? Yacht Club Games sounds awful.

How was A Boy and His Blob? Always wanted to check it out.

Edit- Looks like they might be planning a Kickstarter:

Played it for 10 minutes, didn't jive with me, and I adore platformers. Found it boring. :( Might be because I didn't stick with it long enough.
