Official Gripshift thread (XBLA coming soon)

Does the PS3 version include the level editor? Even better, can users share the tracks somehow with other PS3 owners? Great job on the PSP version BTW.

Nice video. I do like the visual upgrades. (notice better lighting, higher poly counts, better textures, etc.) :)
Day one purchase for me as well. (where the hell are the playstation cards?)

Looking good, Looks like I it will be day one purchase for me as well If I can ever get my hands on a PS3.

Any word on custom soundtracks?

I'm not in a position to confirm the top line functionality and content that will ship with the base PS3 version. There will be certain features from the PSP version that don't make the PS3 version, but we'll be supporting the title with upgrades and downloads over time also.

Will you make Gripshift for xbla too? You mentioned it in this thread some months ago

We are exploring bringing the game to other digital distribution channels including approaching Microsoft.

There will be much greater control over music selection as well as twice the number of overall tracks from a wider variety of music artists. Custom sound track support may be added later (unless some industrious programmer has already thrown it in).

Right, a whole bunch of new media and info today, so probably best to throw it all back in here. Any chance a mod can change the thread title to mention PS3 info and media on this page? Or maybe edit this info into the original post?

OP edited to link to your post above, Mario, as the official start of the PS3 portion of the discussion.

Nice interview with chubs. Glad to hear you keeping the dream of a full-blown GS sequel alive.

Glad you like it. Still see the odd copy being bought locally myself.

You'll have to come into the office and check out GripShift on PS3 (good to go, just waiting for people to get back from vacation or wherever and put it on the network). Make it a late Friday afternoon and you can share a couple of beers with the team too ;)

What's the experience like putting a game on the Playstation Store?

Is it like xbla where it sort of goes into a queue? Is Sony trying to plan releases strategically?, etc.

Mario can you answer this question please?

Sounds like NDA territory to me.

its not secret what Microsoft does with their downloads. and it won't be a secret with Sony either once they start coming with some regularity.

We haven't really been dealing with SCEA directly with regard to putting the game up on the Network, so I'm not sure of the exact situation. From what I can tell, I'm pretty sure they are putting up titles at the earliest opportunity (though the holiday break seems to be messing with things).

They have to build up a critical mass of titles and claw back the volume advantage XBLA has before the can get strategic I think (not to mention more titles would have to be finished).

As for the actual release date of GripShift, the latest intel I have is around the end of next week. Thats not official, but probably not a bad guess based on the communications I have seen. Hopefully when I get an exact date I can post that here rather than having to wait until its actually available.

In the mean time, don't go spending that $9.99 on frivolous New Year celebrations! :)

Can you confirm Mario? :)

I have heard on the grapevine that it is possible that it is coming in the next couple of weeks. It could be here tomorrow if we are lucky. But it might not.

While I have privileged info, NDAs and approvals mean that I am unable to reveal details of any dates that may be on the cards.

Sorry. I wish I could confirm.

Thursdayton!

I can't emphasize enough just how much fun this game was on the PSP. $9.99 is an incredible value.
