new One Piece Unlimited Adventure (Wii) Jump scans

wow

arlong, krieg and crocodile

i hope for god enel, foxy and berami too (CP9 also would be cool)

anyway. this is a zelda type game right..? seems to be huge!

When it says 'adventure' does it mean adventure or another beat 'em up? Can't really tell from the scans.

From what i have seen its like zelda but with one piece characters.

I dont know how that would work. It looks nice enough. But they would need a massive budget for a massive game to do one piece justice. And for the story obviously I would far rather read the manga again or watch the series. Im a huge fan of one piece but manga games are rarely interesting.

I hope you get to use the wii controller to stretch luffys arms that would be goddamned excellent

Um, no.
It´s incredible fun to be able playing the story of your favorite series. Also, how many action-adventures are there with decent, or even epic stories? Besides Zelda, none.
Also, manga/anime-games have gotten incredbly better last gen, see the GNT-games for GCN, or Bleach on NDS, also Dragonball-games, etc..

Man alive, you are one fascinating specimen.

Insane asylum inspection aside, this game certainly does look splendid. I want to see more gameplay footage though, because last time it was shown it seemed a bit of a mindless collectathon with nets and things. I do wish anime games provided english subtitles as well though in the japanese releases, or the american release provides the japanese audio as standard. Puts you off buying either way if not, because you either can't understand any text and FAQ your way through the game, or nab an american version that makes your ears bleed.

whatever, I dont agree. Ive played gran battle and he some of the naruto game..and they were fun and shallow. One piece is epic. Period. It is one of the main draws of the series, hence why the movies and specials dont capture instill the same feelings that the main arcs do. A fighting game with waggle would be cool, but I doubt they can do justice in an adventure. There is no doubt that it might be a fun shallow experience, but honestly oda is one piece to me, so I follow the manga and anime, and the rest...not so much.

As for action/adventures with good stories. How about outcast or beyond good and evil? I prefer both those to zelda.

Just personal gravity. I can see why others might be very hyped.

I'm surprised no one has made a single comment about the rabbit character yet. Are they adding some sort of pet collecting/raising system to the game or is he just an additional playable character specifically for this adventure?

I have a feeling Franky won't be making an appearance in this game, but it still looks great. Hopefully Datel releases that freeloader for the Wii soon.

you will use the controller for luffies pistol for example. it was once explained that you can run towards the enemy with the analogstick while "throwing" the wiimote back and forth to execute the move

Been one of the sweetest looking Wii games ever since its announcement, I thought it would be out by now though! Still, more development time should mean a better game I guess? *fingers crossed*

Also Datel, need that Wii Freeloader, kthxbye.

that is cool. they need a one piece fighting game with wii mote...they could use it especially for luffy and all the logia types...could be really cool actually

There's something about this game that seems deceptive. I really don't think it's a fully-fledged adventure. I mean, look at those screens there. Every single image we've ever seen of this game has been in the same green jungly area. Now if you look at those shots, even the fights with Arlong, Krieg, and Crocodile are in the SAME AREA.

Maybe it's just a beat 'em up, maybe it's some weird thing where you're trapped on an island and that weird rabbit creates illusions of past villains for you to fight. But the utter lack of any different locales really makes me think a LOT of people are expecting WAY too much from this game.

Has anyone ever translated any of these scans?

It's possible that they are trying to be secretive about it, but I think you're right. One thing that bothers me is that I've yet to see the Going Merry, or any pirate ships. Which leads me to believe that the "adventure" all happens on a single island. Though I don't think this game will be just a beat-em up. Past shots/movies showed Luffy running around with a butterfly net, and I seem to remember scans showing Luffy fishing and using a shovel. And depending on how big/varied the island is, it might not be a bad thing.

Seen any vids?

I wonder what a game like this will sell like in Japan

Yes I have. Theres one I've seen at Gamevideos.

Video

Thats an old video and even then I would say it looked better then all Wii games shown. The repeating combo attack has me worried though..

thanks for the vids, I hope that was just early seems the enemies in the JFrance vid seemed to have no AI to fight back and his walking animation was a little meh.
Please stop calling this Zelda, with all that said One Piece looks very promising

Well, in Water 7 arc, the anime was trailing very close to the manga. It got so that the producers had to stretch each individual episode to fit 1 episode of the manga, in order to buy Oda time. Then they had a ridiculous stretch of filler episodes right at the most climatic part. >_<

It's been a personal hope of mine that One Piece game adaptations ditch the brawler formula and go for something more adventure-ish. The manga is all about adventure - not four people duking it out in a closed off level.

should we expect the game to be released in Europe or EEUU? Has any other One piece game been released outside japan?

I'm just wondering how the game itself works/plays. So far the screen shots only show off fishing, catching bugs, digging, a bunny character, and the One Piece crew fighting random marines and past bad guys. And all of this is being shown on the same island/level. Right now all I can assume is that this game will play like GTA in terms of it's structure. You have one big island/area to play around in with "objectives" having to be performed and random marines/bad guys popping up.

If it was open, it would possibly be great. Some new screens I saw showed off Ace and Smoker fighting as well, in some sort of versus mode it looked too.

I've just seen these over at Jeux France, and it does look like there's a vs. fighting mode:

It's shaping up to be a great package, hopefully it'll be an equally great game.

What i finally wnat to see is, if there is anything else besides the always shown island. I really fear that this is going to be everything, without any sailing over the sea :-/

PS: Wow, how about giving me the rank "loves to be banned by Sony-mods" xD

Sadly no :( We're gonna miss out on one hell of a game.

it looks like this is a pretty big budget title... is it a certainty that they won't eventually release it in NA? They could sell to a bigger market and make more on their investment.

Just looking at graphics alone, it seems really polished. I guess they may have skimped somewhere else.

The version of the game playable at E3 last year had English text, so I think it will be released in NA, and hopefully the rest of the world:

Some screenshot used japanese fonts and some used english...it is possible that the game has an english language option.

Hopefully no Zolo -_-
