The formula of the Mega Man franchise is nearly as famous as the franchise itself. When you cut the fat out, the games all feature 8 stages, a boss for each (let's not get into technicalities). The theme that binds them ranges from glorious and hectic to cheesy and mindless. Today we rate which one is the best of all across any MM games that apply. Despite the excellent Wily, Sigma, Vile, etc. boss themes, those weren't the ones shoved into our heads 8+ over. I've included a link to the different themes across YouTube as a refresher. The sound quality and volume greatly varies and spoilers may also be there but..it's Mega Man. Select your Champion.
Rules:
1. Theme is heard 8 times in the game excluding time-relative battles themes (Vile, X Hunters, Dynamo, Sigma, etc).
2. Official or unofficial remixes and arranges do not count including remake songs. Original song and composition only.
Classic
Mega Man - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XUdZA6CES1A
Mega Man 2 - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZiAf4eOFaXU
-an absolute classic with one of the most exciting intros ever. Who could forget hearing this song rush up all of a sudden against the quiet backdrop of the final Wily stage and the subsequent surprise of a boss battle
Mega Man 3 - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6HGZw3YGbUc
-Nostalgia hasn't done as much for this one as I would expect. The melody seems to weave all over the place. Still one of the better Classic ones though. The Complete Works remix is spectacular though.
Mega Man 4 - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x0c6wa-KJCg
Mega Man 5 - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xpBBpCqPL-s
-A lighter feel to this one but the game pulls it off. A dark horse favorite you could say.
Mega Man 6 - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lMC8_-lHXN4
Mega Man 7 - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dvG658ZRkmA
-7 is an altogether strange game and the musical quality seemed like a step back from X. However this song had a great loop that kept the fight exciting.

X Series
Mega Man X - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iuUZt0DFfRk
-All hail buttrock! Nostalgia has pushed the X soundtrack far for me but this is still one of the better boss themes to come out of the franchise IMO. Loves me them bridges.
Mega Man X2 - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sMS6QMxZrQs
-UGH go away.

Mega Man X5 - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ow9AY_G6mN4 (1:50 in)
-The single most unique boss theme IMO and a great one. Didn't get into it at first but with the synth voices and the complex loop, you couldn't help but love it.

My personal favorite:
Mega Man Zero Crash
What better way to top a highly refreshing Mega Man game than with a badass boss theme? First there's the tense Guarder Room theme to build the atmosphere and then BAM, Crash rolls in with a strong, driving beat that really gave the battles an intense pace. The industrialish sound also helps reinforce the series' setting and mood. It's no surprise this theme was remixed in every subsequent Zero game (for midboss purposes I believe). Nostalgia be damned by the GBA sound capabilities!
I know I'm missing a bunch of games here (never played BN/SF, Legends, CM, GB/GBC games) so if those games follow the rules, feel free to include them among the selections. Also discuss why a certain boss theme is your favorite and feel free to discuss remixes/arranges as well. Some of them are absolutely excellent (MM2 boss arrange from CW).
