Hey guys, sell me a PSone Classic

Warhawk, Wild Arms, Crash Bandicoot, Medievil, Tekken 2 or something else (e.g. Syphon Filter, which I know nothing about)? Really leaning towards Medievil because of how many times they say "gothic" in the description, or maybe Wild Arms because it's supposedly awesome. Help me spend some money, GAF!

EDIT: Thought the fact that I was calling it a PSone Classic implied properly that I'm talking about the PSN, for my PS3 and PSP. I'm talking about $5.99 digitally distributed titles, here. Sorry. :lol

I thought at first you meant the original PS1 system. Those are worth quite a bit of money I guess as music enthusiasts have labeled it as one of the finest CD players ever made.

Guys..
PSone games you can buy through the PS3 = PSone Classics

In any case..
Medievil is kinda cool, and Tekken 2 is nice..J Flash too..

Syphon Filter>Tekken 2 (but I'd wait for 3)>Medievil>Warhawk>Crash

Never played Wild Arms, but I've heard good things. Syphon Filter has actually aged pretty damn well too, sans the incredibly ugly faces, buy it. It's fun, it's lengthy, best in the franchise including PSP games...buy SF now.

Edit: Okay didn't know SOTN was on it buy it first for sure, but still get SF sometime.

I've seen that story all over the place... they keep referring to the original source. I'm pretty sure it's a myth. There has always been a lot of bonkers stuff going on in the audiophile world... and this is another one. Anyway, who wants to control CDs via that horrible "paint splotches" UI?

And most PS1s did not have the direct AV outputs on the back (which is the one the audioloons say is so great) but instead had the unified AV port we've come to know and love. PS1s aren't worth much.

Wild Arms is classic RPG action. Nothing wrong with it at all.

All the PS1 games on the US PSN were good games at one time.

Perhaps you should tell people things they shouldn't buy, like Wipeout and Warhawk.

See, "at one time" is the thing. I'd hate for my second PSone Classic (there's that name again :lol) purchase to strike me with VC Buyer's Remorse. SoTN certainly didn't. (Though that's my second copy of that game, and the first with a good or passable d-pad.)

Elaborate on this? Sounds interesting

I fully endorse Wild ARMS. I was worried it wouldn't hold up to the test of time and that one of my favorite PS1-era games would be tarnished in my memory, but its great. I just put 3 hours into it the other night.

Here's a story on it. They show a "PSone" but that's wrong. The model they are talking about is the launch PS1 with the red, white and yellow RCA outputs on the back instead of the single unified A/V outlet (which I already had by 1997). Audionuts think they can plug in decent cables to these things and get amazing CD sound.

I personally think it's bullshit and someone should send it into skeptic James Randi.

Well this is the first time I've ever heard someone make a comment on the PS1's cd-playing capability, let alone that it's one of the best. But I have to agree to some extent. Back in those days, my PS1 was my machine to listen to cd's to since I didn't own any other type of cd-player and I was always satisfied with it. I have one of those units with a grey blocked user interface where you can apply effects to the music like Dome, Theater, Studio, Hall etc.
But I can't see why the soundquality would actually be exceptionally good just because of the PS1 system. I mean isn't the output (speakers) supposed to decide that.

The only PSone Classic I own is Crash Bandicoot. I was surprised by how well the game has held up. It's quite easy to forget that the game your playing is over 10 years old.

Crash Bandicoot is a game I hated when it first came out, but it's one of the most playable PS1 games today IMO.

Yeah, they released a superstupid purple coloured interface, it all looked really messy and had almost none of the extra options like the effects from the older one. All the buttons were like bubbles in dumb colours or something.

Btw, CB isn't really that good, I hope you guys are talking about Crash Bandicoot 2 cause that's the real classic.

I'm thinking I'll get Wild Arms. Thanks guys! <3

I've been tempted to buy this game for the past few weeks since it came out. When my 4gb PSP mem card comes in the mail I'll probably buy it. Can someone comment on this... I can't remember if it has random battles or not.

Wild Arms and Warhawk. Some Crash love would be swell.

Anyone read about Street Fighter Alpha and Rayman to hit the PSN Store? :D

It's been rated at esrb.com

It does.

In the time it took me to get the pocket watch, that kid could have just put the books back on the shelf.

I really like the three-front opening. I assume that for the festival to occur and the plot to move forward, I need to reach a certain point with all three characters?

Wild Arms. I've been trying to get a copy of the original for awhile as I miss it, and don't feel like shelling out for a PS3 quite yet, plus I like having tangible copies on my shelf. Might end up just waiting and getting the digital copy though.
