I didn't pre order a Playstation 4. I plan to walk in launch day and get one.

yeah, my buddy sold his pre-order yesterday with an extra controller for $668...

Your buddy and the other people unloading it asap are smart. Lots of these tech launches these days have a very steep and quick drop off into "losing money after fees and shipping" territory. If you sell one on ebay for $650, your net profit after shipping and fees is $125...all nice and unsecured, ready to be charged back at the buyer's will.

craigslist is obviously better, but I don't do those, personally. instead of chargebacks, you worry about knivesinyourback

Good luck for people trying to do walk-ins. I have mine coming from Amazon, but I went in on a lark to a respectably sized Walmart and they only got 4. Ouch.

Hopefully he realizes his upgrade isnt backwards compatible.

If it's awesome game i'm sure well see it again.

The Walmart I work at is only doing preorders and saving the rest for Black Friday. Luckily I had one preordered already.

Target in Clifton nj was packed at 8 am and I guess that they had Ps4s without preorders. They had killzone and cod and dance game, thats all

We are neighbors.... :)

I had both systems Pre-ordered at the Gamestop on Rt46, but changed it last week bc i could only afford one and Killer Instinct Is literally a Killer App for me. Ill pick up the PS4 & Infamous in March for my bday. I will say im feeling the twinge of doubt this morning as i read through these threads and see everyone enjoying their new systems.

Congrats everyone who got a PS4....Love reading all the new impressions!

Showed up at Target at about 7:15 only like 11 people in line purchased 1 and my bro purchased another and after we left they still had over 20 available

I pissed off a scalper.

Target employee was giving one number to each person waiting in line, then the scalper lady asked for two numbers, the employee was about the give them than I interjected.
The employee took away the lady's 2nd number. She was pissed

Launch day is for gamers. Scalpers can get lost. I hate scalpers and I was glad to have ruined her scalping hoggering

How do you know she was a scalper? Maybe she wanted to buy another one for a friend or relative?

congrats you just ruined some kids christmas

I caught a bit of the launch madness and had the morning off so after dropping my son off at school took a ride around RI, 4 walmarts, 2 targets and 2 gamestops, no luck. Walmarts product tracking on their website and app is not accurate shockingly enough.

How the hell did you know she was a scalper? Pretty important part to include in the story if you don't want to look a complete douche bag.

I think I may have posted this before, but the lack of violence was very surprising. I was half expecting world star hiphop level stuff.

One person in line has a launch ps3 thats dying. He said hes just upgrading rather than getting another ps3. A console that lasted the entire generation. Wow

I have two BC PS3, I upgraded the Fans and Power Supplies in both, they are used almost every day sense launch and work great still.

This morning (8:15AM) both Target and Walmart near my home in Edwardsville IL had them in stock for walk in purchase.

You have no idea whether or not she was reselling them or buying an extra as a gift.

I'm in the exact same situation. I really don't want to buy another PS3, but I have so much I need to play still. I think The Last of Us is gonna kill my launch PS3, so I'm saving it for last...

I'm of half a mind to walk into Target and see what I can find. I don't even really want a PS4 yet, none of the launch games excite me. I just can't help but get excited at new hardware.

I remember for the PS3 launch, people were camped out in front for a week. There was literally a row of tents...and it was hilarious.

Eh, I get the sentiment and I usually agree but I'm one of those filthy scumbags this time. I had an X360 on it's 9th life and wanted to sell it off for a fare price. The only way to do that without much hassle is to trade in toward a new system at GameStop. I certainly want a PS4 eventually, but I'm in no rush to have it right this moment. Any other person could have reserved one at the same time as me. This is how supply and demand work in the free market.

If it makes you feel all warm inside, I have yet to find a buyer. And if I don't, no biggie. I'll just keep it and enjoy it myself.

Open it up, clean it out. Put new thermal paste on the CPU/GPU. Upgrade to the 19 blade fan ~$15. Upgrade to the 231 power supply ~$20. Takes less than 30 mins to do all of this. If it is still running you should be in good shape after doing that.

I've called over 30 stores in Southern NH already this morning for a buddy and every store has none available. One of the GS stores told me to call back Sun. morning after the pre-sells are released back onto the shelves...

Please pay no mind to those people on gaf.. they have this naive utopian worldview where everyone who buys something must be a pure supporter and fan of it, especially when it comes to video games. How dare you not let a true gamer fan have their chance at a PS4!! ..or something.

look guys, if everyone was permitted to buy 2 or 3 consoles per person, it would screw over people waiting in line.

I am of the opinion of: 1 console per person and I do not apologize for it.

One human in the line = one physical console for that one human.

maybe she had 2 kids? idk
this must be a joke, right?

No pre-order here, went to Target 1hr before opening. Was 18th in line and they had 48 units. By the time 8:00am rolled around there was only about 30 in line. They could not get the rolling gate open at 8am so they let us in through the employee entrance :) This was downtown Montreal.

Two people (I think they were a couple) were trying to sell their ticket to people in the line for $200. One person bit since they wanted one for their kid. If he would have waited 20 more minutes, he would have realized that he would have got one with his position in line.

The girl walked up and down a few times trying to off load her ticket. People just laughed and made fun of her. I think she dropped the price a bit, but no one was having it. I didn't see her afterwards...

Just my $.02 here whether you want it or not, but I completely understand the US is great because or free enterprise, and out freedoms, but the whole resell thing is straight BS for those that actually want to play the systems. Now, the true gamers could have pre-ordered one (if they had the chance) but that may have not been an option. The resellers are the ones that have 5-10 units pre-ordered, then mapped out release times at other local stores so they could pick up additional units that were not already reserved. The typical reseller I've talked to, gets about 10-20 units upon launch, and usually makes about 100-200 extra per unit. (Well, at least not in the case of the Wii-U, where they returned all their unsold units within 15 days per store return policy) It is their business. Does this make them a scumbag, no, but it really really sucks when you have a family of 5-6 all in line for retail units and they each count as 1 customer, and deny access to the system from a family or gamer that just wants the system to play... This does muddy the gaming eco system for months until untis are readily available on shelves....

Er..who cares about your opinion lol. If that's the store's policy, ok. If it's not, ok. If you were able to influence some dumb employee who doesn't know which it is, ok.

I'm not disagreeing with you, just shrugging at the whole thing. And laughing at people here who get all white knight at the idea of anyone doing anything but praising the almighty random new electronic thing.
