PS3 Remote Play-Play PS3 Games on PSP! (Unfortunately, the first one is LAIR)

I don't get it.

1) Doesn't this method have serious lag issues?

2) Why should I play Lair in the bedroom on PSP if I could play it in the living room on my 9990$-HDTV?

Yeah, but nevertheless, nice technical gimmick.

1.)Nope, not at all. I've just completed the 5 stables mission on the fucking PSP. I heard an audio stutter once, that's it. Even if it were laggy, that can be adjusted with the bandwidth/quality settings.

2.)What if you aren't anywhere near your $9990 HDTV? What if it was in use? What if you wanted entertainment away from home or even on the shitter?

why do you care if someone wants to do this? It's not like he's trading it in for a pink ds and one game...go play some of your bat shit insane games and leave the discussion to people who own a PS3 or are interested in this subject.

Super Stardust would be perfect for remote play...

this will get even better as fiber optic internet becomes more commonplace.

lol thats so shit, playing HD games on a tiny low res screen... yeah, great, only thing this is useful for is using the psp as a remote control for bluray/dvd/music and the odd PSN arcade game like puzzle fighter

How do you use L2 and R2 to land?

Thanks,

Stick around, kid.

This is awesome news, anyone who's picking holes in this already clearly have an agenda. Another nice thread on GAF ruined by dickheads.

How did you defeat the general in the first level? You can't do the side swipe move with the PSP and as far as I know, hitting him with fireballs does nothing.

The major problem I see for remote play is latency. It takes time to encode and transmit an image, realistically probably .2s at least. By which time you're already dead. It might work for turn based games where timing is not important but anything which requires timing - forget it.

The dragons don't die that easy dude.

^ There is very little lag in local WiFi. Nothing that could seriuosly destroy the gameplay...

Are you serious? Doesn't this make the PSP like the best mobile game device ever(next to the N-Gage)? Suddenly, I want a PS3 like right now.

It's a glitch though; the devs never intended the game to be played on the PSP. I know this because certain levels are impossible with the standard PSP controls.

Dayum! Ps3 owners sure are a touchy bunch these days. Understandable....I guess. I just asked the guy a question.

For me there is a noticeable lag. The PSP takes 1/5 second to respond to any XMB response over a remote connection. It doesn't matter so much for movies but it would kill any game where you're meant to be playing with split second timing.

This is really great news:D

I wonder how they're going to address control mapping to the PSP's fewer buttons and anolog nub but otherwise this is something that really needed to happen. Sony needed somethig that you can do with the PS3 that you can't do on the other systems that was gaming related and it finally brings the idea of playing their games anywhere between home consoles and PSP to fruition.

Anyone who can spin this into bad news really needs to have their head examined.

If this functionality is anything like what has existed for more than a decade with PC remote utilities, the data is cached before your input has effect.

Obviously, the PSP is only outputting streamed PS3 video. The PSP isn't actually running the game. :lol

yep, but it nowhere as simple as it seems... its pretty freaking AWESOME.

They are starting to do crazy stuff with PSP... I like it.

WOW people are ACTUALLY tring to be down on this?

How is this in ANY was bad?

It's fukkin awesome.

i haven't read through the thing, but is the input lag low enough that it doesn't bother you?

i'd be fine for most games, but unless games had an option to compensate for it, games like GOW would be tough.

that said, those pics make it look exceptionally sharp, but i still think i'd rather play on a big screen unless it was an RPG and someone had to watch tv or something.

It's because Nintendo tried something similar before and got blasted for saying it cost too much to own a GBA and a Cube.

thats the wrong way to pose the question. the FTC says you dont have to disclose that stuff initially, but if you are ever directly asked, you must be truthful or its illegal.

but you have to ask in the right way, i.e. do you work for Sony or any of its subsidiaries, contracted marketing firms, or publishing companies?

like you have to cover it or they can say "no" when they actually do, you just werent specific enough. something like that etc the FTC ruled on that after Sony was doing that stuff with the Sony Ericcson cameras with the fake 'fans' showing off the camera in public
OT:
Lollerskates, do you by any chance play counterstrike source on a server called noob refuge?

A few notes. The PS3 completely crashes when accessing the "Lair Network" and I had to do a hard reset...so don't do that. :D

Using a response time of +2, the game controls fairly well. Oddly enough I prefer the motion controls to the slight lag on the PSP, but other than that it's more than capable of a fairly good gaming session. It rocks being able to access the 50+ music tracks in the Concert Hall and the art galleries from my sofa though...that's really awesome.

This won't work with a 20gb PS3, right? :(

for local ad-hoc NO, but if your PS3 is connected t oa router that has wireless and you connect your psp to that router you would be connecting to is through your AP but you will get any lag depending on who is on your network.

Super Stardust would be perfect for remote play...

i don't think so sir.

Dead Rising...I'm just saying
It's Capcom. CAPCOM. When has a popular title NOT been ported?

Give it time, or else the sequel will be elsewhere, too.
Either way, Capcom is the Japanese Ubisoft.

Ok I finally tried it. Amazing.. but! How do you land (L2+R2), do a 180 turn and a speed boost with a PSP!?:lol

You cant! The nice thing is you kinda-sorta don't need that to still play the game.

Except for boss fights, which I'd imagine are impossible with this control scheme.

I'm sorry but what games are those?

I was just thinking...how could I have missed out on a game like Chromehounds? How could gamers in general, miss out on Chromehounds. And now that I've read your question, I realized that it isn't on PC.

Still, a possible sports GOTY, NHL 08, is on the PC in a bastardized format.

Anyways, I can't believe I'm responding to such a freaking retarded question.

I totally forgot the SSD wouldn't work.

But there are so many games, especially classic games, on PSN that would work beautifully. Rampart, MKII, Neo Geo fighters (in the future).
