New Brink preview, gameplay and screens

No offense to fans of those games, but IMO they are B class compared to Splash Damage games. Many consoles games, specifically X360 titles, sometimes can sell ok based on trendiness alone, without regard for quality.
I think this goes both ways, and I see a definite trend when it comes to retail FPS games. Even BF3 is hyping the SP. But I actually hope that I'm wrong about the importance of a SP campaign because I liked Quake Wars and I want this title to have a healthy online community.

Still Month1 for me, could be the game that replaces TF2 for multiplayer fun. Really depends on how solid the multiplayer levels are and how inventive the weaponry can be.

Replace TF2? Ha no way. Team Fortress 2 is still the best online MP game this gen.

Just want to add that a similar deal exists for their UK store, but with a different code:

Direct2Drive UK: £22.46 with code RABBIT (25% off)

Pre-order bonus is the Psycho Pack, same as Amazon.co.uk.
Isn't it odd that they'd allow you to buy from mainland-EU when they have a specific EU service that has Brink up with a higher price? I'm only asking because I couldn't order it from one of the listed countries.

*welp, it worked! Don't use umlauts kids.

Hardy harr!

Only downside to the uk deal is that it will be available 3 days later ... =/.
Yeah, though if you're connecting to Steam from the EU I don't think it will let you unlock it until the 13th regardless of where you got it. I could be wrong though.

Yay, got it gifted for PC, nice :D Is there a seperate jump button or do you only jump using the S.M.A.R.T. button?
SMART is just a nice word for auto-baby-mode, you can do everything manually if you want (with better results!).

Well my homefront from the us unlocked on the us release date, not sure if the uk people had to wait at that point.

I was talking about the game in relation to myself, not how well the game will do in the market at large. Im tired of playing TF2 at the moment, I hope Brink will be as fun as TF2 in the same team oriented FPS genre.

Bleuck, Valve flushed that game down the toilet with all the ridiculous updates. I really miss vanilla TF2.

bleh!

Took the gamble and bought the game for 22£. Here's hoping that even if the game has its flaws, the sum of its part makes up for it.

Personally I would say CoD4 is the best MP game this gen. But I'm mostly a console gamer.

So is this game even going to get an |OT|? Anyone claimed it?

I'd like to know this aswell, would be nice to play against and with gaffers.

One last try, any us gafer that could gift me brink from d2d.com? Want to get around the 3 day later europe release.

I'll be in whatever the latest Brink thread is on Day One giving impressions, but I'm not sure I have the skill to create an OT.

I'll have a go at making the |OT| is nobody else wants to. Always wanted to make an |OT|.

Best of luck to you! You can probably get all the important gameplay info from the Brink Fragworld article.

I already called the OT in another thread a couple weeks ago. Been working on it steadily since then.

Oh, rats. Alright then.

If you have something you would like to contribute or something specific you want in the OP I have no problem adding it. That goes to anyone - the OP is going to be fairly comprehensive, but I'll add pretty much anything anybody would want me to add, or anything they want to contribute.

After I initially post it, i'll hopefully be able to "open source" it like Andrex does with some (all?) of his OTs, and anybody can check in changes to the OP.

I'm not sure what to make of that interview. The fact that he is being interviewed by Xbox360 Achievements could mean he was just spicing up his answers to please the Xbox 360 users who are obviously watching it. Alternatively, aside from telling us that it's a Steamworks game with the basic features, they've been very quiet about the PC version and the system requirements for the PC version are oddly high. I'm expecting an unoptimized game.

Any preorder deals on this?
yeah I'm pretty sure everyone and their mom has one. Amazon has what looks like the best one, with a custom Revolver, and two silencers, and Walmart has the second best. Gamestop and Best Buy also have them.

The weapons are just skins though from what I understand, no unique attributes or anything.

Some of the weapons are skins, others (like the Psycho Revolver from Amazon) are unique weapons. My guess is that as usual no one will use them past the first few levels.

That interview seemed like he was just trying to avoid going all "PC master race" on 360Achievements and looking like an asshole to console players.

I'm still really looking forward to this game. I already pre-ordered it from Amazon, because I had store credit, so it's nice to see they have a solid pre-order bonus (was unaware of any). I highly enjoy team objective based multiplayer games, so I've been anticipating this game since it was announced. Also, loving the art-style and exaggerated character models, and so far all of the maps I've seen look to be pretty interesting. I just can;t wait to try out the different character builds and classes and create a unique character to help enhance the experience even more. I find it helps to create a unique experience when you get to see what other people have come up with in terms of characters, instead of seeing the same skins recycled.

I really look forward to playing this on May 10th. I just hope the game sells well, or at least has a healthy online community, because I've been intrigued by it for so long, so I hope I can get many hours of enjoyment out of it.

I went ahead and ordered this from D2D (with great difficulty, annoying IGN/Gamespy/everything accounts with multiple usernames + repeated transaction errors). £22 is a good enough price and they didn't even add my local taxes.

My main worry is the high recommend specs, hopefully it'll run OK on a dualcore. For a while I thought I'd hold off and get during a sale later in the year, but I thought it'd be fun to be there day 1 (well, day 4) while people are still unlocking stuff and before the servers turn into the usual "same map 24/7, no [cheap weapon], doubled player count" etc.

I have a bad feeling about this...a Lost Planet 2,Crackdown 2,Shadowrun reboot bad feeling about this...I hope i`m wrong though but so far I find the game has no atmosphere,it just looks like a twitchy mess that people will get bored with after a few hours...maybe the online multi will be great, something i`m less interested in.

It's a multiplayer game dude

I LOVE objective based shooters! I just can't get into CoD and all that but games like this and Battlefield and TF2 make life awesome!

OH BOY I can't wait to stand in front of things and hold a button!

Yeah, seems like they could have done something to make objectives more involved and interesting. It might be the industry norm to have a player stand in front of an objective and hold a button to activate it, but it's the little things that can make a good game great and a great game an all-time game.

BrLvgThrChmstry said:
Better yet, doing most objectives in any shooter. Duffy is in trolling territory, I'm convinced he wants nothing to do with the game and is here only to serve that purpose.
Some objective modes are better than others. UT's assault gametype did a pretty good job of mixing it up.

He isn't referring to a specific mode, just player interactions with objectives in general -- I sort of agree. It would be cool if they involved a mini-game or something.
