Xbox One - Walk into a store and pick it up?

Out of curiosity I called around this morning called Walmart and Target both said they had 'a few left' for sale.

Southwest Ohio. So if you didn't preorder there is still hope for you in some parts of the world.

NPD is going to be interesting.

Ironically I could have picked one up in the store today...in a Tier 2 country...

FNAC (French retailer but with shops here in Belgium too) imported a bit of stock from France and some of them were directly available in stock. They had no accessories and only AC IV for the rest though. I did not pick it up, PS4 next week and had only foreseen to budget Xbox One for 2014 (Tier 2 release)

so, lets imagine hypothetically that Xboxes remain a little more readily available on shelves throughout the holidays, and PS4s remain as rare as rocking horse shit. Would you expect many people to flip and buy an xbox instead, or will the scarcity of PS4 just make it even more desired?

I guess it could go either way.

They will buy the console they want whether they have to wait for it or not. Yeah, there's a few impulse buyers out there but I don't think most are that easily flipped on their buying decision.

I'm at work right now and there's a really small line at our target. I'm in socal and we're one of the big stores.

I have a friend in Richmond, VA called everywhere - BestBuy, Gamestop, Target, Sears, etc. He is unable to find one. If anyone knows of any around there, hit me up.

Not really interested in one until Titanfall comes out, but I had errands to run and decided if I could find one, then whatever, I'd get it. Gamestop, Target and Walmart were all sold out, or whatever stock they had was for people who had reserved.

This is in Northern Virginia, by the way.

Please can we not turn this thread into a pissing contest and have people report their local stock situation and be helpful to those looking for Bones. No need for lolol not sold out bullshit.

Lmao, it's nice to want things. But on topic this bodes well for me being able to score one after our account recovers from the PS4 launch.

I'm at work right now (Walmart in Canada) and we've been open for 3 hours now. We got 8 Xbones in and had a lineup of 7 people when we opened. The remaining console has just been sitting here unsold since then.

How do you know that PS4 has way more supply?

Gamestop investor call from the other day seems to confirm what we've been hearing since summer. Retailers got much higher allocations for PS4 than XB1.

Not to say XB1 first day sales won't be impressive. We already know both supply and demand exceed 360's launch numbers.

I cancelled my preorder months ago but got that itch today. I signed up for the xbox area one event thing they had here in London and they had a mini GAME kiosk thing setup. I couldn't resist buying the forza day one edition. They had a lot there it seemed. At least 20 on display and a back room that they kept getting consoles from to replenish the display area.

I'm sure we'll get a units shipped PR message at the end of the weekend. It wouldn't be surprising if it's around 1.5M worldwide.

NPD will be more interesting. I hope they tell us how many they sold and not the "the xbox family has sold X units" message.

If their message is not direct then they would've sold less than a million units. But being a "world-wide" launch I expect it to be over a million.

Target by my office had 27 on hand when I walked in about 45 minutes ago.

You're not in Phoenix by chance are you? For those who are finding them in stores can you please post where (city, intersection) so fellow gaffers in your area who didn't preorder can get one too? I thought this thread was to help not to gloat

Might be time for that $400 Kinectless bundle MS.

Would be nice, I am probably going with PS4 but would get an Xbone instead if they had this. Not only do I not want to spend extra, the last thing I need is (kinect) something else for my kid to try to yank off the TV stand. :)

Sorry, update the post, Denver, CO, Colorado and Alameda.

People are calling stores to find out stock levels even if they don't want an XBox One?

Why?

Stopped in to pick up the new Zelda. I have an XB1 coming from Amazon today, tho. No taxes is good taxes :)

Morbid curiosity? Why do you come to a forum to discuss video games?

Except calling a store to find out how a console you're not interested in is doing is hardly morbid curiosity is it.

I suspect deep down you know exactly why people would do that.

I just wish they'd admit it.

Another Target which now shows it in stock does not have them as well. That's 3 now. Last one said they only have them for people who preordered even though website said "In Stock"

DO NOT USE TARGET.COM AS AN INDICATOR OF STOCK.

Have to agree with this. I have never had good luck with the Target.com website's stock indicator. It is especially bad for games on release day.

Already a few GAFer reports about walking into Target and buying one or seeing them available.

Yep, don't use Walmart.com's either. These online stock trackers these companies use suck.

(I and a friend looking for a PS4 went to 2 Walmarts that said they had stock on launch day...both turned us away. We called a 3rd that showed it and they said no.)

Good to hear, still best to ALWAYS call....unless you like wasting gas.

I woulnd't be thanking him yet. The website does not update. I've yet to find a single Target which carries one even though it shows at least 20+ in my city which have them "In Stock"

Well it will at least give you a place to start calling. Didn't mean to incite panic runs to Target.

Just to clarify, in my case, i litterally walked in the store during my lunch time for something else, only to be surprised by an Xbox One in display. I do want that console, just not now.

Target finder reminds me of Wii U launch. More or less in stock at about 60 to 70% of places. I checked the last four zip codes I've lived in and all had them available and close by.
