But what I actually meant was that Avatar feels like a CGI movie to me, like what FFAC is. I didn't mean to compare it to FFAC directly just the feeling of watching a full-CGI movie. I only mentioned FFAC because that's the last CGI movie (the Blu-ray version)I've seen.

Looked like the Spirits Within, with live actors replacing the soulless gazes of cg ones. The blue things looked okay. I think the fakeness of all the settings will make them seem more convincing. It looks like a movie I'd enjoy. The cg doesn't look bad, but I wasn't blown away by that preview. I've seen similar in the 3rd Matrix (the mechs actually looked better in Matrix), the new Star Wars trilogy (the backdrops had the same 'this is cg' look as the trailer'), and as mentioned TSW.

OK, finally watched it in 720p and really, I have no idea how anyone can watch this and not feel ultra-hyped as I do right now.
We at GAF are pretty well-informed regarding the movie and all the pre-trailer hype and stuff, so I guess it's easy to feel... wait, I don't guess at all, it just looks epic and awesome.
Just IMAGINE if there had been no warning, no hype, no nothing until now and the trailer had just hit the internets out of nowhere.
Like, WOW.

Well, I dunno about that. Its CG does look amazing. My gripe is that it's just not integrated that well with the actors, which was the selling point of the movie. Even the mechs look like obvious CGI (e.g., the scene where he's coming off the landing craft with his wheelchair, the mech on the left looks awful). I was expecting a new paradigm of CG with this movie but it basically looks like a standard CG-driven summer blockbuster.

What i'm saying ...I dunno, it's the "human" element of the Navi that makes it so convincing for ...and that's just from mere snippets. Sure they look "out there' but it's still all highly evocative for me.

I just thought If this trailer was release without saying who is directing it. And movie was made by some other director would you still consider it great trailer and get hype for the movie?

Looks absolutely fantastic. Artistically it looks beautiful. It is still very obviously CG...but its convincing enough that it is slightly disturbing. The alien designs are so absolutely absurd (in a good way) that it's still uncanny valley pretty much by default. Even so though this looks amazing.
