UNCHARTED: Drake's fortune is GOLD !

Uncharted Demo set for November

UK, October 25, 2007 - Following previous rumours of an imminent demo for Uncharted: Drake's Fortune on PlayStation 3, it's been confirmed by developer Naughty Dog that a trial should be available next month, courtesy of the PlayStation Store.

Speaking on the official PlayStation blog, AI and animation programmer Christian Gyrling told readers: "A demo will be available in the PlayStation Store sometime mid November. I don't know the exact date as of now." Clearly, he's not entirely sure whether that's a lovely gift for US residents or the rest of us too either.

Whatever happens, Naughty Dog better hurry up because the game's due out in Europe on December 7.

this game looks disgustingly good. it's a shame to see it get caught up in the whole system war bullshit, shouldering the responsibility of "proving" the ps3's worth. agree with anyone who says it looks to be naughty dog's best game yet, and i hope it's their best seller--devs should be rewarded for eschewing furry little mascots

Basically.

I just wonder one thing.

How many barrels in this game?

I love the direction this thread has gone in.

I would understand if someone had a problem with barrels that didn't explode.

But when you shoot most barrels, they go BOOOM! I see no problem with this.

i didn't play the bioshock demo... i haven't been watching any videos of this since i finally put in my preorder the other week. i'm sold on it, i'm going in as clean as can be.

Wow, your self-control is admirable. I've been sold on this game since the first media included the words 'Naughty Dog' and I'm going to devour the demo. I honestly prefer your way but I have nowhere near your level of restraint.

Ratchet & clank / Uncharted the same month for me. w00t , so freakin great. cant wait, last preview video was awesome

watch the video preview here. You are basically watching the game being played for about 14 minutes. It shows platforming, swimming, and shooting among other things.

Shouldn't an official thread be made? SMG gets one, why not Uncharted?
Too early.

We have a "new video and pictures" topic that should have been killed and broken up into multiple topics weeks ago. :lol

well this game has certainly shaped up since the last time i saw it.

very interested now. although it has to be said that if it wasn't for the gaf i would never knew it existed. ps3 games as a whole seem to suffer from a massive lack of hype.

Super Mario Galaxy has had an official thread for something like a week. Halo had one way before release. Why shouldn't Uncharted get one?
Everyone's scared of making one, because the last one got locked!

I received the preview version of Uncharted and played through it. It's more than an hour of gameplay and then it stops. :(

I absolutely love it. The gameplay is very, very smooth. The combat has some great touches, like shooting or throwing grenades from a hanging position, or the ability to walk forward from cover in one movement (instead of getting out of cover and the continuing). The animations are great in almost all cases, such as reloading a gun or performing a roll.

I especially think everybody comes together so well. All the little touches in the combat, combined with the AI of the enemies (they flank you, take cover, and throw grenades) makes for a cool combat experiences. They can also blow up some walls with grenades, taking your cover away, and you can hit them when they throw their grenade so they drop it and explode!

The platforming/exploring part is fun too, although not that difficult. They even reduced the difficulty compared to the Leipzig demo: took away a big jump in the waterfall area.

Cool thing is that you can find treasures and get rewards for special actions (like killing 5 guys in a row with headshots only or killing 3 guys with one explosion). You then unlock movies, skins and other gameplay-things, like faster movement. So this is a game where you want to complete all those tasks and want to find the treasures.

The story is cool so far and the cutscenes have a good mix of cheesy adventure-style, humour and seriousness.

If the game can keep this level of entertainment, it's great. Really great.

I mean how could they have the heart to come back and spoil our fun!?
:lol Indeed

I seem to remember that the director at a European event said that they knew the barrels seemed weird but they were there for game-play and they had added explanations for them to be there too.

I'm gunna wait till Christmas for this probably, but damn this game looks amazing. Can't wait, I love the whole feel of the game, this is a real adventure game. Captures it spot on.

This sounds amazing...it looks beautiful and plays great - the best of both worlds. I can't wait to get my hands on this game.

When I think of all the time I have spent on finding less impressive easter eggs in MGS. ^.^

Thanks for the impressions.

BTW, how linear is it? I mean is it possible to solve situations in different ways or is EDIT: are things like combat on rails?

The main game itself progresses through a linear path. There are a few areas you can explore to find treasures, but they aren't 'open' at all.

However, there are quite some possibilities in firefights. Although they play, until now, on small areas, inside these ares you have a lot of options an so does the enemy. There are a lot of cover places and you can use guns, melee, run and gun and grenades. So the combat itself has a lot of options although the game is linear. The combat also FEELS very good because of all these options. After you die you can try a totally different way, even though the environment isn't that big or so. The game just provides you with all those tools to kill your foes.

How aggressive are the enemies in terms of flanking you and catching you off-guard?
