Affordable Space Adventures (WiiU) - new gameplay video

KingSnake

The Birthday Skeleton
There is a new gameplay video for the game on nintendolife. This one is focusing on the co-op aspect of the game and shows the first 10 minutes of the game. One player controls the movement of the ship with the wiimote and the other is operating the ship computer on the gamepad.

As you can see from the footage below - which, be warned, contains somewhat unrelated references to Colin Farrell's early televisual career - the game makes excellent use of the Wii U's two-screen system, with (in this case, at least) one player guiding the ship on the main screen while the second - assuming the role of an engineer - is in charge of other duties, such as turning on various systems and controlling the pitch of the ship. Although we didn't try it out, it's possible to add a third player who is in charge of navigation.

Youtube link.

As developers announced on twitter the game is finished and submitted to Nintendo, so it will be released soon.

The intro and the menus seem to be very polished. I took a few screenshots of it:

For the gameplay itself it's quite difficult to capture the atmosphere in a screenshot in this off-screen view.

Man, what an absolutely terrible video.

Camera focused off to the side, with the television at an angle?
Can't even see what's going on with the game.

Why the heck would I want to stare at a couple of guys talking and a couple of book shelves during a game video?

And even the mini-view of the gamepad is at an angle.
It's like "My first video recording" or something.

You kind of have a point here. When I tried to do some gameplay screenshots it was quite difficult to get a clear view.

Miyamoto/Aounuma Zelda teaser Tea tbh

Can't wait, I really want to try this game with my brother =D

I've been eagerly waiting for this game since they first showed it. I love the environmental atmosphere of Nifflas's games, and this seems to continue in that mode (with perhaps a bit of the quirky humor from KnapNok Games). The visual direction is amazing, and really, everything seems to be coming together wonderfully. I might have to play this mostly in single-player, so I hope it holds up well in that mode. Hopefully it will release soon! I'm glad Nintendo has been highlighting this in their Directs and at events.

Well, what a teaser for a game already being publicly demoed here and there... Wish I could play Zelda U during 15 levels like I did with Affordable Space Adventure a few month back. ;]

NintendoEverything will also cover Affordable Space Adventures in their Weekly Screeshot piece from now on for several weeks. I don't think is it worthy to make a new thread for this, so I will post it here:

The first photo we’re posting is one of the loading screens that appears between sections in Affordable Space Adventures. It reminds players about the important gameplay mechanic of scanning artifacts to see their range and type of detection before they attempt to attack the spaceship.

Here’s the official screenshot description from KnapNok:
When exploring around Spectaculon, remember to scan left and right for completely safe alien artifacts. Just don’t disturb them or you’ll be fined. Or shot at.

First reviews?

Affordable Space Adventures is one of the best Wii U showcases. It uses the Wii U Gamepad as no other game has done before and it offers a bunch of intelligent puzzles and situations that will force you to think (and use all the spacecraft abilities) before act. It also offers a great atmosphere, light effects and a very, very enjoyable local multiplayer.

9/10

Better still, the laughter which accompanies acts of incompetence among your space team becomes yet another unique experience which Affordable Space Adventures thrives on. Piloting a spaceship has rarely felt this engaging.
