We do not plan on talking specifics about the the NX until 2016, Iwata said again during the investors meeting. Explaining why the announcement was made so early, Iwata said he didnt want people to think the smart device collaboration with DeNA meant that Nintendo was abandoning home gaming systems.

Presently, we cannot talk about the time period when it [the NX] will go on sale or what its like, Iwata said. Because we are calling it a new concept, we are not thinking of this as a simple replacement for the 3DS or the Wii U.

One would hope. I think this will be the time for them to announce new Wii U games so that everyone could get some assurance that Nintendo is still focusing first party efforts on the console.

We already know they've got unannounced stuff, so yeah.

They'll no doubt cover unreleased games we do know about too- Devil's Third, Xenoblade X, Star Fox, etc.

Sounds about right, I don't really recall if Sega has ever used E3 for mobile game promotions. I think EA mentioned PvZ 2 at E3, but that was an announcement including PvZ Garden Warfare

I agree, 2 years wiiU and 3 years 3ds is my prediction before either successor is launched. Now that the big three have launched their hardware, its time for games damnit.

Bring out the big guns, Nintendo: advance wars and metroid for 3DS or bust.

Its like this almost every year. That's partly what makes it so exciting. That and knowing whatever they do announce that isnt a mainline Zelda will be coming out within the year

I thought we had a good idea of what was coming Fall 2014. I think Splatoon was really the only surprise at last years E3.

I'd like to wait for the official translation, but in the case it coincides, I suppose by "not a simple replacement" for 3DS or Wii U Iwata means just what he already stated back in March: NX is a game-dedicated hardware with a NEW concept, diverging from the concepts behind 3DS and Wii U (probably, the new concept is consoles becoming form factors sharing OS, functions and games).
