Persona 4: Dancing All Night is a rhythm game for the PS Vita, featuring characters and music from the Persona 4 series.
Gameplay is similar to other rhythm games such as Project Diva f, with the player pressing specific inputs in time with prompts that appear on the screen (which are timed to the rhythm of the song).
Playable characters include the entire main party from Persona 4, as well as Nanako Dojima, Margaret and newcomer Kanami Mashita. Each character has two songs to dance to, except for Narukami, who has five, and Nanako, who has three. Whilst characters can only dance on their own specific songs, they can also all be selected as the backup dancer for any other song, jumping in at specific parts of a song when the player performs well.
Dancing All Night also features a visual novel style story mode, which is functionally
similar to Persona 4 Ultimax's story mode. Atlus PR has stated that the story mode is
around 6-10 hours long.
The storyline continues from after the events of Persona 4, when the teenage mega-idol, Rise Kujikawa, returns to the city to re-take her show biz career. During that time, a strange video appears on the internet and the unfortunate people who watched it have gone missing! Members of Kanamin Kitchen, Rise's junior idol group, have disappeared and it's up to the Investigation team to mount a rescue mission - only they discover the same monstrous Shadows from the Midnight Channel. To make matters even worse, their Persona abilities are rendered ineffective, and the Shadows in P4D can only be defeated by dance, so bust out powerful dance moves to save the day!
The game includes 27 tracks in the base game, and more can be downloaded at a later date. Tracks are all taken from Persona 4 and its various spinoff media, including tracks such as Pursuing My True Self, Shadow World and Maze of Life. There are also several newly remixed tracks by notable Japanese artists such as Daisuke Asakura, TK, Norihiko Hibino and Akira Yamaoka.
A full list of the tracks in the game can be found here (Not embedded because it's huuuuge.)
By completing songs, players earn P$, an in-game currency used to buy new costumes for your characters. Included within the base game is nearly every alternate
costume that was previously featured in Persona 4 Golden. Additional costumes can be purchased as DLC.
Starting from launch day, DLC will be released on a weekly basis. Atlus haven't stated how long for, however the current schedule seems to go up to at least August. DLC includes accessories, costumes, songs and characters.
