A mysterious black figure, Deemo, plays piano in a place far away from our own.

One day, a small girl falls through a window in the ceiling, landing in Deemo's arms. Lost and confused in this mysterious place, she finds solace in Deemo's company. The little girl explores the mysterious structure that she's fallen into. There are no entrances or exits, only the unreachable window that she fell through.

400

As Deemo plays his piano, the little girl notices a sprout rising from the ground, responding and growing to the sound of the music. It stretches toward the window the girl fell from.

Their goal is now clear. Play music for the sprout so that the little girl may be able to climb the tree and return to the place she came from.

Deemo
A mysterious figure who spends his days playing sheet music on his piano. A kind and gentle soul, the little girl quickly befriends him. Has he always resided in this place?

The Little Girl
A young girl who fell through a window into a faraway place, and met Deemo. She enjoys listening to Deemo play his music. Once the sprout near Deemo's piano grows large enough, she may one day be able to return home.

The Masked Lady
She seems to be the master of Deemo's world. Distant, sarcastic, and abrasive, her identity is unknown. Deemo seems to like her for some reason.

Deemo is a touch-based rhythm game. As the bar notes descend, you need to tap them as they cross the black bar near the bottom. There are also golden notes that you hit by dragging your finger across them as they descend. There are Easy, Normal, and Hard difficulties. There are at least 38 songs in the game, with 68 available as DLC.

As you clear songs, you receive points that add to the tree's height. When it reaches certain levels, a cutscene may occur, new songs may unlock, or a new area may open up for you to explore. A larger number of points are awarded when you clear a song's difficulty for the first time.

Vita-exclusive features are:
  • Fully animated cutscenes and Japanese voice acting
  • Epilogue not present in mobile versions
  • Duel mode where you can play against another player on the same screen
  • Duet mode where you can connect two Vitas through ad-hoc and play duet versions of songs.
The Vita version comes with a Black Deemo theme for early purchasers.

A white theme is also available for ¥300/HKD$19.

Each DLC pack is ¥480/HKD$28, each containing five songs, with 14 packs in total. There's a complete DLC pack available for ¥4200/HKD$270.

A complete list of songs can be found at the Deemo wiki here, with DLC starting at Collection IV. Don't click around too much, since people aren't really careful with spoilers. Like seriously, don't go to the Deemo character page. You'll regret it.

Is this out in North America/Europe?
Not yet, but RayArk have expressed interest in releasing it internationally. The game already has English text, so it can't be too far out.

Can I get the game physically?
No, it's a digital-only title.

Does Deemo have button controls?
No, it's purely touch-based. It works well and feels good on the Vita's touch screen.

Nice OT; it answered a few questions I had. I was hoping this was coming out this week in NA, and was disappointed when I couldn't find in the PSN.

This has all of the original story content of the iOS game plus a little more, correct? I know it has all of the songs.

Hoping this comes to NA. I loved it on my ipad.

Yep, all of the original content from the mobile version, plus newly animated cutscenes and the epilogue. The epilogue's accessible from the main menu if you just want to skip straight to it.

Thanks, that's great to hear. Hopefully we hear some good news on the Western release soon.

The game seems to be a bit of a RAM hog. You can't use the store, check trophies, check your friend list, etc. while it's running without needing to close the game. Nice that it runs much faster than Cytus did though.

How does it play? Any slowdowns, low framerate, things like that?

Deemo along with Cytus, have been one of my most played games on Android, I would gladly play it all over again on the Vita. Hope it is brought over very soon.

I have the game on my iPad and love it so much! It's from the studio that created Cytus, another great rhythm game that is already available on the Vita in NA/EU.
The game is pretty difficult. There are 10 levels of difficulty and 8 seems to be my limit that I can handle somehow :p

Deemo scored 8/8/9/8 [33/40] in Famitsu, beating out Taiko V. Nice for RayArk's first non-mobile game, as unimportant as Famitsu scores are.

Just about caught up to where I was in the iOS version. By far my favorite rhythm game on the Vita. The story combined with this style of rhythm gameplay just does it for me.

I've noticed the game is really soft on the Vita's battery. Seems about the same as PSP game battery drain, maybe a bit better.

The long loading time first time you start the game is a bit meh. But once you are in and the music starts playing, you know you are in for a treat. A great rhythm game. Wings of Piano is one of my favorites :)

There's no separate thread for the mobile game, so...

I just beat the iOS version of Deemo, and at the same time finally saw the 100% result screen for the first time.

This must be the easiest (and shortest) song in the game and it still took half an hour. Even on my best rhythm game days I will still consistently get 1-2 slightly off notes... Which is crushing in a game like this that recognizes total perfection.

After almost two years, the game is over! I assume the Vita-exclusive content will come to mobile eventually, but getting the Vita version in NA that much sooner would be even better.

If you have this game and haven't gotten to the end: it's worth it. The ending was very obvious from the context, but the developers manage to present it impactfully nevertheless with what you have to do.

The iOS version has updated with new free and DLC songs. I don't know when this gets added to Vita.

The story is over, but this really is some of the best music in the game yet.

Here some news, the game will be released in the US and Europe this spring :

I also take this opportunity to ask for help! just bought the physical version and i'm in love with it!

I unlocked the second tree and grew the tree to 33 m! But the next step is 38 m, and i already played all the song.... is my only hope to get a perfect combo? I already have most of them on easy, and can't manage to do it on normal except for one or two songs!

am i doomed unless i get good enough?

It's up on the NA store.

Also holy shit it has over $100 in DLC songs.

That looks like all the same DLC on mobile, at the same price... except all Shattered Memories content is free on mobile, and it's $12 here after paying $15 for the base game.

And this has not caught up to Forgotten Hourglass, the latest DLC content on mobile. That's another 25 songs not playable here yet.

Regardless, it's still cheaper to buy the Vita version with all DLC ($15 base game + $35 DLC Bundle 1 + $50 DLC Bundle 2= $100) than to buy the iOS version with all DLC ($2 base game + $4 x 27 DLC packs (no discount bundles) = $110), if you only count content that exists in both versions.

So is the "Duet mode where you can connect two Vitas through ad-hoc and play duet versions of songs." meant to be played by a single player with a Vita in each hand? Cause that's what I thought I understood in that other thread, but it seems pretty absurd. I assume it's really a 2 player co-op mode?

we've found a mistake in the DLC pricing, beacuse of this Bundle 2 DLC will be removed from the store for the moment, but it will take a week to update, after this all Shattered Memories DLC will become free.

In Duet Mode two vitas can play different versions of songs via ad-hoc mode, indeed it's a 2 player coop-mode.

Oh, weird, my first assumption from hearing about duet mode was that you would lay the two Vitas side by side and then play them like a piano with both hands. I wonder if you still could play it that way?

I caved and bought it because I thought I read somewhere the 15 base game had 100 songs. I don't really feel cheated, because I really love Deemo on iOS and fully support it here, but after VOEZ on Switch, it does feel slightly low on content.

With that said, did the devs state anywhere that Deemo might make its way to Switch? I'd honestly love it on that system, as VOEZ is one of my favorite games on there.

Hello everyone!

There's a bug with the DLC installation process which we are currently working on it to fix it as soon as possible.

Also we've found a mistake in the DLC pricing, beacuse of this Bundle 2 DLC will be removed from the store for the moment, but it will take a week to update, after this all Shattered Memories DLC will become free.

We're deeply sorry for the confusion and every inconvenience caused.

Thank you for all your support.

So Shattered Memories DLC being free now is good. Shame about the bug.

What's the difference betwene the 14.99 base game on PSN and the paid mobile game? I bought it on iOS a while bakc. Bought the PSV asia physical but kept it sealed. I wanted to get the US PSN one to play and i see 2 DLC packs which are 50 and 35 dollars each?

The Vita version has animated and voiced cutscenes, a couple of exclusive song packs built in, and a selection of songs reworked for two-player.

The iOS version has just added new DLC that implements new game+, which unlocks many new songs and an extra difficulty mode.
