I'm not a huge pop fan, but Britney's career has been pretty impressive.

I remember getting into her in the early days, thinking she would fizzle out like her contemporaries--Mandy Moore, Jessica Simpson.

But she just keeps releasing decent albums. I decided to explore most of her discography due to my free Apple Music trial.

Blackout, Circus, Femme Fatale, Britney Jean, all are pretty bumping albums.

I'm pretty impressed at her output even after all her troubles.

especially since she has been known since the mickey mouse club. impressive she's been relevant for quite a while

She needs to stop the stupidly nasal and overly high pitched voice.
The hell happened to Britney from that Toxic or even Gimme More song

The only true princess of pop
her discography cannot be denied

I mean, I guess opinions. Femme Fatale was like her last effort. But yeah, her career early on was significant.

I don't think she'll reach the mindshare she had when she was younger. Ever.

That was also still the MTV era too. That type of mega pop star is dead.

People thought her career was in the toilet after that marriage fiasco, then people made fun of her weight gain. Then again, I rarely pay attention to music these days, save for Disturbed's latest album.

I think that's the general sentiment I had. I thought she was totally done after the Federline and mental health issues.

But she still managed to put out some decent music after that.

As much as I love Brit-Brit, the woman is going through the motions. There's no enthusiasm left behind her eyes for the entertainment industry (with good reason). She's just a spokesperson for faceless producers now with some solid current hits.

Billy Jean is the worst Pop album to be released in the last decade.

Half the vocals aren't even Britney's, and you can actually hear her vocals skip in one of the songs, that's how lazy an effort it was.

She can't sing. She can't dance. She can't write music. She can't play an instrument. Yet...she's one of the most successful musicians in the world. That's basically the script to every feel-good Hollywood movie. Scrappy underdog with everything against them yet they miraculously attain great success.

I'm curious. Are there any pop stars that aren't manufactured these days?

I know East Asian has it down to a formula with revolving doors of idols, ready to be replaced as they age out.

None of your statements are true.

Anyway, she's never seemed happier in her life than she is right now. She loves being a mum, is fit as a fiddle and had her residency to keep the money coming in for her.

She's also probably the greatest pop star of my generation. Not bad for someone who people thought would only last a few years.

I wouldn't call that impressive. In the Zone was her last great album. And it was in 2003. After that, she was never in the top again. Currently, she is barely in the top 10 of pop singers.

Agrih, she had an impressive collection of albums full of bops...

That's OK, I guess. I don't care for current Brittany but her early years were filled with good music and almost flawless live performances...

Just like Taylor Swift, am I right?

Britney Jean? Decent? Did we hear the same album?

Hey, I really like the William Orbit track "Alien". But I like a lot of Orbit's stuff.

But I agree "Britney Jean" was one of her weakest albums, which is a shame because she usually puts out some pretty good to great POP albums, if your into POP music.

Blackout is seriously one of the best pop albums ever IMO.

The leaked demo version of Alien doesn't have the skip. I don't know how the final version got approved for the album *sigh* It probably was rushed and lazy.

Haven't really listened to Britney Jean yet, but In the Zone, Blackout, Circus, and Femme Fatale are all very strong. Even if BJ is terrible, it's one weak album after those four.

Of the ones I'm familiar with, I'd say Britney is her weakest album (even though I like some of the tracks). It's caught between the sweet bubblegum princess thing and the attempt at being more of an adult pop star, and ends up really having no set identity.

Her first album was hot garbage.

She shouldn't have survived on one amazing song with a great video and one good song.

Sometimes I wonder why people weren't more disappointed with how bad the rest of the songs were.

I think my Britney attachment rate has went along with her sucess.

I totally loved her at the beginning, i remember totally hyped as fuck when MTV first aired "Sometimes", i had a huge crush on her.

But after Toxic it all went downhill for me.

She definitely has a great portfolio of catchy pop songs, she's had a pretty consistent team in place to keep that machine going. Good for her for keeping on despite all the personal problems she's had.

I can't really bring myself to appreciate her outside of that fact though; it's hard to throw praise her way when she doesn't sing live or takes many creative risks. Her success probably validates her lack of risk taking, so I guess you can't fault her.

And post Blackout Britney is the best Britney (but, yes, Britney Jean is bad except for Work Bitch, Body Ache and Alien). She even had a sample from Streets of Rage 2 in a Femme Fatale bonus track. You can't hate the girl.

Britney is awesome but Britney Jean album may be one of the worst things I've ever heard. Everything up to that point has been either good or at least decent. I don't know what the fuck happened there.

Lady Gaga, Sia, Adele, Taylor Swift, Shakira, Lana Del Rey, P!nk...

"Manufactured" is a loaded term, so if you're implying that there aren't pop stars who are talented, or have creative control over their music or image, then that's a harsh assumption. Gaga (for example) is a great singer, writes all her material, and has total control over her output. Though I guess because she's such a high-profile act or has the backing of a major label for marketing dollars then people designate someone like her as "manufactured," but that's kind of unfair. Being a successful pop act doesn't necessarily mean you're creatively robbed or that you're just a cog in a machine. :p
