edit: Didn't really expect this thread to hit more than like 10 posts, so some stuff that keeps getting brought up:

- It comes in 8 bags of ~4k pieces each. No, I don't intend to jumble all of them up. ~PRO OP EDIT~ Here's why. Stop asking.
- Size is roughly 2m x 5.5m finished
- Will post updates/pictures in this thread. In fact I actually plan to use a timelapse app to take pictures every ~1 minutes while I'm working on it to make some mega-video at the end of it all.
- After I'm done I'm gonna take more pictures, a video or two, then I'll put it back in the box in slices. No intention right now to frame it or anything. Also yes, if you're wondering I plat JRPGs. Lots of them. I'm one of those guys

=== Original Post ===

Ever do something on impulse and then later reflect on your actions and realize that you've indeed made a huge mistake? That's me.

I got a 32k piece puzzle. It arrived. The box is huge. It's also massively heavy.

Next to a 5k box

And a bowl of noodles and chopsticks for a more general size comparison

Incidentally this is how big the 5k puzzle is. We misjudged and it was about an inch larger than the table, so we actually made a bunch of cardboard extensions that go under the glass (Heh). Print quality and the jigsaw cardboard build quality is awesome, or I wouldn't have dared to go for the 32k

It's another extremely busy period for work (had to temporarily abandon the 5k midway too) so it's gonna be a while before I even crack open the box for the 32k.

In before sempai~~ there's too much I can't possibly finish all of it

Have a garage?

Set up an overhead webcam and stream it 24/7 and see how many months it takes you to finish.

Take a picture and post it on the internet.

And then it goes back in the box.

...

......

This feels about as useful as a JRPG platinum

Huh guess it's the journey that matters not the destination in this instance. Well as long as you enjoy it.

I actually plan to montage it with auto-snapshots every 5 minutes or so.

The puzzle itself comes in 8 different bags corresponding to a section of the picture, so it's not 32k at once (-that- would be pure insanity, or roughly (8 x 8) / 8 as long without the separate bags)

So basically finish each section, then move furniture around a bit to put it all together for picture time. 5.5 x 2 meters, roughly.

Same could be said for JRPG platinums :P

I saw that on Amazon a few months ago.

Honestly I have no idea how you would even build the thing. Isn't it like 10' long by 6' wide? You practically need to clear out an entire room to put it together.

Still, if you love puzzles, the price per hour for something like that is insanely low. You can get a good deal of entertainment out of what you paid.

Booooo.

I will break into your house and mix all the bags.

what do you do with it once you're finished? frame it?

When I worked for the phone company we'd do puzzles on breaks then glue them to a backing to hang on the wall. The whole office was decorated with them. It was pretty cool actually.

I'm subbing to this thread, I want to see progress shots and I'm curious how long it's going to take.
It's almost a shame they bagged it per section, but you could always hard mode it and mix them all up. ovo

A while ago I made a puzzle with 1000 pieces without example and I thought that was pretty cool, but nvm lol. Must say I thought it was actually pretty fun, I've been thinking of going to the thrift store to buy one for about 50 cents, make it and bring it back.

I mean just buy a poster at this point...

Why buy the Lego Star Wars Deathstar when you can just buy a plastic toy model of it?

Anyway, when I found out my wife's family built puzzles then afterwards just put it back in the box I was kind of astonished. We have always bought the glue and mounted it on some cardboard or something after finishing a puzzle.

Only way I would buy a puzzle this big is if I actually had a place to frame it and put it on a wall. It would take up the whole wall but it would be pretty damn impressive.

Aww that's no fun and you know it. Mix it all up in the mainbox before you start!

That sounds like a weekend or 10 of fun.

Not too excited about it being a modern cityscape picture but I guess that offers sufficient seperation detail for putting it all together.

There's so going to be one missing piece :P

Eh, I got that covered. Ravensburger has excellent customer service on that issue.

I basically got traumatized prior. Long story short, while on a business trip back to Malaysia, I had a bit of free time. Dad said he had a 5k piece puzzle and said I couldn't finish it. Like a dumbass, I did the whole CHALLENGE ACCEPTED thing, and we got it out of storage.

Mind you, this thing, my dad bought 25 years ago, started, gave up, and put it back in the box. While doing this puzzle, we found 3 pieces from another puzzle (had a different cardboard/thickness - lol) and horrifically, halfway through after finishing all the sky parts, there were two missing sky pieces. Since this was something bought 25 years ago, there was no way to get replacement pieces. The puzzle isn't even in print anymore, and JUMBO no longer seems to make puzzles. Those newfangled fancy custom replacement services are also too expensive.

I got the last laugh though since I went on eBay and got the exact same puzzle from someone so I could finish it

It was a "Happy Faces" puzzle. You can tell I'm easily amused.

This is what I found for a similar 32K puzzle:

You're crazy OP.

It's not similar. It's that puzzle lol

It was made in 2014. So really recent.

Open to package and return it so that RMA personel have to check that every piece is still there. This seems like a good way to share the suffering with others.

So you're doing 8 4k piece puzzles then, not a 32k.

So you're doing 8 4k piece puzzles then, not a 32k.

Everything over 5k is typically divided this way. Even 9k puzzles, you'd be hard pressed to find without a two-bag division. It's kind of standard practice, and when puzzle enthusiasts say 32k, it's kind of understood that it's not going to be 32k at once.

So yes, it's a 32k puzzle.

Here is a progress picture I found online...

To kind of get an idea on how big this thing is... That is one section out of 8..
