Hadn't seen this game get discounted in a long time and I've been following sales on US PSN for near 2 years.
It may not be the best ver. of the game but it is serviceable
Thanks to etta for mentioning it

Other noticeable sales include
Black Rock Shooter The Game (PS) – $4.00
Z.H.P. (PSP) – $3.00

I know this is part of the flash sale so if mods want to lock this thread that's understandable, but wanted to get the word out in case someone misses it :X

Z.H.P is Vita compatible or not? Might grab if it is.

Already owned Lunar at the full price. Others shouldn't miss out on this sale for sure.

What does "serviceable" mean in this instance?

If it's anything like the PS1 port of FFVI then I beg to differ.

I know some people like this version, but the demo drove me nuts. The balance is all off (much easier than the SCD & PS1 versions) but what really annoyed me was that the music fades in and out when loading between maps. Half the reason to play the Lunar games is the amazing soundtracks so that was a deal breaker.

Well one could always stand in one place when playing to immerse themselves in the music :P

I'm still kicking myself for missing out on the EU sale of this game during the summer. £2.50... bollocks! In my defense though, I didn't know about the game back then, but now I do, and I'd like to play it at some point.

I'd get in on this deal, but it being a PSP game, I'd have to format my Vita in order to get it working, and I can't be arsed with that.

I was considering it before for $15, for $6 I think I'll bite. The PSX version Silver Star Story Complete was my first RPG and I'll always remember it. The idea of a love story in a video game was sort of novel to me at the time.

Well, if people don't have the physical, the only other choice is iOS version which actually isn't that bad either. That said, PSP version is alright and its very cheap. Yeah, the PSX physical is the best but what are you going to do.

Finished it last summer for the first time and loved it! Some people hate this version but i didn't have any major complaints.

Lunar Harmony is a steaming pile of shit and the absolute worst way to experience an otherwise fantastic game.

Avoid this fucking turd at all costs.

Edit: I never played Lunar Legend but i can't imagine it is as bad as the psp version.

Very excited to see Z.H.P. at $3, that game never went below $19.99 on Amazon (I followed for YEARS) and this is the first PSN sale it's ever had (I've also followed for years). The rare NIS game that actually looks special and appealing to me.

Really love the PSN sales explosion we've had this past year, it's like every company finally decided this was the year to put their games on sale for the first time, and also decided $1-$3 would be a good price to sell things at. Feels great!

Gonna need more explanation than that.

Many of us don't want to dig up a copy of the Sega CD or PSX version, or bust out an old console. I have my Vita here. 6 bucks. Seems like a good situation.

Just read a review where it said this is the best version of the game lol.

Whatever, I never played it and after seeing some videos and reviews I'm tempted to give it a shot.
I remember it being very well received back when it was released on the Mega CD.

I really enjoyed Lunar on the PSP. Not sure what people are complaining about. It was hard to avoid random encounters since the enemies ran at you when you went on screen, but that was it. Oh, and some of the secret side-quests were really obscure.

I haven't played Silver Star Harmony since it came out, but I remember the music fading in and out during screen transitions driving me CRAZY.

I played Silver Star Story Complete on PS1 and it was seriously one of my favorite RPGs, some of the dialog was hilarious and the characters/story was all great imo. Never played the PSP version but I'm sure it's still fine. I don't care for the graphical 'upgrade' and I think the sprite/pixel based graphics added to its charm, but to each their own.

Was just looking at this and was thinking of getting it but the posts here are making me hesitate..
edit: bought

Pros:
Remastered audio

Your mileage may vary:
New visuals (SCD/PS1 versions are very 16-bit looking, PSP version looks more modern)
Redone translation & voice acting
New prologue scenario
Arts Gauge system (i.e. Limit Breaks)

Negatives:
Areas are smaller
No world map (world map is a menu)
Drastically easier / No difficulty
Load times are frequent and interrupt the music

This isn't even a PSOne port. It's a PSP game.

You ignored my question completely, well done.

This is what I was looking for/worried about, thank you.

This version of SS wouldn't be worth it even if it were free. Don't ruin your impression of an amazing game by playing this turd.

EDIT: Lunar Legend is indeed worse, but not by much.

If you can't get SSSC or refuse to play the iOS port, then by all means pick it up. $6 is not a terrible price, and it's not that bad of a remake by any means.

This seems kind of lame. I wonder what the reason for it is.

I have heard that the digital version improves the loading times though. But i can't compare since i haven't played the UMD version.

The load times killed it for me on PSP years ago. If they're truly better on the digital version, I'll consider a double dip.

The loading times were the deal breaker for me. I'm still waiting till they port the psx version of it on psn... which I doubt will ever happen :(

Wow. Harsh criticism for what is actually a really good port/remake. They redid the sprite work and updated the localization to get rid of a few dated references and jokes and changed the songs to better reflect the mood and tone of the original Japanese release. I'm not a fan of the new voice acting, but to call it a "steaming pile of shit" and "fucking turd" is rather dismissive of a great game.

Will probably pick this up. Even with the dissenting opinions.

May even decide to trudge through the horribleness of Dragon Song to say I played the series.

If you don't have access to a better version this one is ok. However don't expect a challenging game because it's easy as shit just play it for the story.

Hyperbolic nonsense. Its far from the best version, but for people with no other option, Harmony is still Lunar and is still entertaining to play.

this shit ain't worth $6

plays way too damn slow with that loading. if you can handle Chrono Trigger PS1 then I guess you can get it
