It's a story about a stand-up comedian called Barry Crimmins. Never heard of him? Well just watch the documentary anyways. It's probably the best doc I've seen in years and it made me want to... Well just watch it okay. And keep watching it even if you feel like you've seen enough. I mean it.

Oh and it's directed by this guy from Police Academy:
PS. He's a serious film maker so don't get any ideas about the tone from these gifs.

Seriously it's good.

Must watch if you're into stand-up comedy and... welll just watch it. Don't google it, but watch it instead.

Spoilers:
Watch it. I watched it illegally but it's available for purchase in many countries and online on popular places. http://www.callmeluckymovie.com/

EDIT: I'm not astroturfing for it, I swear. It's just so rarely you see a documentary this engaging.

Maron interviewed both Crimmins and Bobcat in an episode not that long ago. They talked about the film and it sounded really heart-wrenching at times. Thanks for reminding me to watch it OP.

Thanks for the reminder, been meaning to check it out. I've heard Goldthwait and Crimmins talk about the film on several podcasts; the Fitzdog Radio interview was especially good. It does contain spoilers, though, in case you want to avoid that.
