The TV series by a country mile. I didn't even know this was up for debate.
I seen some people that say the movie was better and the show shits on the vision
Are you fucking serious?
If your answer is the movie then you need to be sectioned.

I watched a few episodes like six or seven probably and it just seemed dumpster tier both in production values and story /shrug. Seemed like they were trying and failing horribly to imitate the movie instead of creating their own aesthetic to fit their clearly limited budget.

For people saying the show, how do you rank SG1, Atlantis, and Universe? Throw the movie in there too I guess, 1 to 4.
1. SG-1 by far
2. Atlantis
3. The movie
4. Universe
I recall the movie being pretty damn stupid with a decent cast. So, there's that. I've seen an episode of any of the Television shows.

4. Universe
They both kinda suck, but for different reasons.

Don't be that guy
You are missing out

SG-1, baby.
Still the best.
Glad the SG-1 dudes are giving me Dark Matter now though.
Loved the movie. Tried to watch the show when it first aired. Couldnt get into it. The episodes i saw from the first season were rough. Even though i didnt have Showtime at home (my friends house was hooked up) i never felt like i was missing anything.
SG-1 forever.

The movie was pretty bad. Dumb, even.
"Hey sweet, a Stargate, we can travel the universe. "
Oh wait, we just went to a crappy theme park version of Ancient Egypt based on Erich von Daniken (the original Ancient Aliens guy)
The TV series opened up the whole universe, rather than just some backwater planet. And it was great how it showed that
Oh sure, it still was based on the ancient aliens stuff, but at least it expanded the mythology somewhat to encompass more modern UFOlogy folklore. The Asgard being Greys for instance was pretty new.
And I liked how guns were actually effective. One of the things about most Sci-Fi movies/shows is that they use fancy energy or laser weapons that area clearly inferior to firearms. In SG-1, guns were actually superior in most cases, as they should be, though sometimes the traditional SF blaster type gun was used as a grenade launcher sort of support weapon.
SG-1 forever.
