The highlight of a recent trip to Texas was the states gigantic gas station convenience store chain Buc-ee's. I believe the mascot is the owner's dog? Looks like a cracked out beaver to me.

Absolutely massive stores towering above barren interstate landscapes. We are talking bigger than an average Walmart or Target. I counted 50+ urinals in the bathroom!

Google Images is not doing this place justice.

I dropped 60 dollars on all kinds of garbage and had a huge smile on my face the entire time. It truly is the Disney World of Texas.

The perfect store, I wish all gas stations were Buc-ee's

Over 100 gas pumps. I always stop there. They have multiple janitors that do literally nothing but clean the bathrooms.

Food selection is good too for road snacks.

Everytime I drive between Houston and San Antonio, I always make it a point to stop at a BUC-EE's just to stretch and get some food.

And it's a perfect place to refill gas also.

There are billboards hundreds of miles before you ever get to it advertising" buccees 359 miles ahead!!"

A new one just opened up down the road from me but I still haven't gone

I've been to them a few times. Good lord they are huge. Much bigger than the average convenience store.

It is a law in Texas that if you take any type of road trip you must stop at Bucees.

Get the Beaver Nuggets!!

Been there many times.

Main attraction? Clean bathrooms!

Really that's why it became a hit. No one ever wants to take a shit at a gas station.

we stopped by their on our way from Dallas to San Antonio, the restrooms were the most amazing, cleanest, ever.

YESSSSSS BUC-EE'S!

Tell me you got Beaver Nuggets!

Also, the mascot is a beaver, man. C'mon. Didn't you notice the 5-foot tall beaver statues by the doors?

I can't even begin to imagine the amount of food that gets thrown out there, holy shit.

I want to go!

Minimal would be my guess. On a weekend day those places are PACKED. The lines at the registers and restrooms move pretty fast though

They Also have dog walking areas outside and provide poop bags. Dogs have to go to!

Yep. It's the only place I'll stop for a bathroom break between Austin and Houston (Giddings!). I'll piss at a McDonald's if I have to, but Buccee's is preferable.

They don't sell guns or ammunition (Is this Texas?).

They do sell dead bait (not live bait).

They don't sell lottery (Sorry Satan).

They got you covered if you like pickled eggs.

I highly doubt they sell through a majority of the dried fruits and peanuts on that wall.

Same here, but I stop at the one in Bastrop. The snacks are juuuuuust good enough to where you don't feel TOO bad about how much you spent on them.

Ya'll are killing me with these recommendations. I am already planning a return trip. Who wants to do a Gaf cruiseship out of Galveston in 2016?!

There's a Buc-ee's located in between all the major cities (Houston to Dallas, to San Antonio, to Austin, etc). I look forward to stopping by any time I drive between cities.

The bathrooms have like 100 stalls or something.

The Giddings location does not live up to the Buc-ee's name. That one is about the size of a regular gas station.

But the whole concept of a convenience store is being able to grab a few things and get out quickly. I can't imagine that's the case with something that big.
Convenience. I don't think that word means what they think it means.

I saw one off of 20 outside of Dallas but I didn't stop to see what the hub bub was about. I want down the road to a quicktrip with gas 30cents cheaper than anywhere else.

Most gas stations like quicktrip or race trac have upped their game with cleanliness. I still don't understand how mcd's can get by with two stalls that are hardly clean and stinks. Jack in the box hasn't been too bad, but gas stations are turning preferable for bathroom breaks.

1) clean restrooms go a long way with travelers.

2) ALWAYS fully staffed. Lines move really damn fast

Bullshit.

Actually, that's exactly what it means. With 120 (est.) gas pumps outside, you never have to wait. With 120 (est.) bathroom stalls, you never have to wait. With all that shelf space, all those ice machines outside, and soda fountains inside, nothing ever runs out. You have minimal wait times at checkout too, because you can check out at the front of the store, or the sides. The amount of STUFF is huge, but if you know what you want, you can be in/out faster than a 7/11.

I have a Buc-ee's right on my daily route, so I know this to be the case first-hand. If you are a tourist, yeah, you could probably roll through Buc-ee's and stay an hour browsing the gifts and stuff. But if you are a daily commuter, you SAVE time going to Buc-ee's.
