Rise of the Tomb Raider new PC patch out

Hey guys, Nixxes updated Rise of the Tomb Raider some minutes ago:

Here is the patch log:

Startup issues (Steam Only):

Fixed C++ runtime error showing up on startup preventing some users from running the game.
Provided work-around for issue where the VC++ redist would not properly get installed, stopping the game from starting at all.
Solved problem where the game would crash on startup when tools like Bins Taskbar organizer or Spacedesk are installed.

Updated options screen with among other things:

Independent mouse sensitivity control for aim and regular navigation.
Mouse and Gamepad X axis inversion
Option to disable keyboard button prompts.
Option to disable mouse smoothing (very light mouse smoothing is present otherwise)

Other fixes included in this patch:

A variety of fixes and improvements to UI including map, basecamps, and Remnant Resistance mode.
New graphics option 'Specular Reflection Quality' to enhance resolution and reduce aliasing of specular reflections, at some performance cost.
New graphics option to disable film-grain independently from 'Screen Effects'.
Improved HBAO+ quality, including better occlusion for distant objects.
Improved NVIDIA SLI performance. (Steam only)
Fixed SLI glitches during water/snow effects. (Steam only)
Resolution Modifier option that allows you to use a lower rendering resolution independent from window size when running in windowed mode.
Performance optimization for situations where Razer Chroma features are enabled. (Steam Only)
Improvements to Razer Chroma effects. (Steam Only)
Fixed an issue that could rarely lead to an error on machines with 16 hardware threads or more.
Fixed mouse cursor not always being hidden when using gamepad.
Fixed major stuttering in Endurance mode.
Fixes for Endurance leaderboards.
Fixed Remnant Resistance missions occasionally not starting.
Fixed rendering glitches on some objects on NVIDIA 6x0 and 7x0 hardware. Some issue do still happen and we are working with NVIDIA to resolve those in future patches or drivers.
Warning messages for users turning textures to Very High or enabling SSAA to indicate high-end hardware is required.
A variety of other smaller optimizations, bug-fixes, and tweaks.

Patch is applicable for Steam and Windows store version.

Damn! Literally everything I wanted.

Fixed SLI glitch
Improved SLI performance
Improved AA
And the fucking mouse cursor won't be in the center of the screen while playing on my comfy couch.

Shame the windows store version literally doesn't work at all for me. Cut scenes only work when I'm alt-tabbed or windowed and the game stutters and lags with 2x AMD r9 290s, i7, 16gb ram, and crossfire won't work due to lack of exclusive fullscreen. The .exe for the game is in some DRM wrapper and can't be accessed for any kind of gfx settings and isn't detected by AMD drivers for profile application so performance is horrible. Then the game crashes and deletes all my saves so I have to start a new game every time. Don't see any of that getting fixed...

Ok this is is strange, if I manually check updates in the store it does not show one available for tomb raider but if I search for it, it shows 'install' button as if its not installed. But I can still play it fine.

I don't want to risk losing my save game by re-installing. :(

Finished it yesterday but kind of wish I had waited. Had crash to desktops every 30 minutes or so. I sent all my error files to them in case it helps them pinpoint that issue though.

Nice to see such a significant patch already.

Is there any way to prompt the Windows 10 version to download the patch? Or... to know if it's already downloaded, I guess? That whole interface isn't exactly flush with options :P

Lesson learned: don't buy anything on the friggin Windows store.

i wouldnt really count that as improved AA but im curious to see the incoming hbao+ comparisons

How do you download a patch in the Windows 10 Store? I have absolutely no idea how to do it :(

If you've got auto-update turned on, it may have already done it for you. Otherwise open the store, click your profile circle and the top right and go to "Downloads and updates" and "Check for Updates".

I believe Auto-Update is the default setting, but given this is NeoGaf I suppose most people turned it off for whatever reasons. No idea if it's actually live on the Windows Store yet however.

Is that for games and apps? I saw that but I just assumed it was updates for the store itself because there's no option to update an individual game. I guess they just expect you to check for updates for everything you own at the same time?

Your game is an app - everything is treated exactly the same. If you want, search for the app / game on the store, go to it's listing page, and it will have an individual "Update" button if it has an update..But eh, may as well just update everything. (If you use any of the default Microsoft ones like Photos or Outlook it's worth checking occasionally or flicking on Auto Update, as they push out updates pretty much weekly or more frequently for them)

Click on your profile picture and there's an option for Updates there.

It's really dumb.

Very nice indeed. I wonder if them improving HBAO+ qualtiy for distant objects means they are using something more similar to the hbao+ in Ass Creed Syndicate with the separate higher radius for distant objects.
Warning messages for users turning textures to Very High or enabling SSAA to indicate high-end hardware is required.
This should shut down some whining about running the higest setting, right?

Very nice patch! I can indeed confirm that the cursor is now gone from the map and relic screen when playing with a pad.

Ah, I had Auto-Updates turned on. Thanks, guys :)

Is that the weird aliasing thing that looks sub-native res
Confused about the (Steam only) parts. Why would a game patch have some elements that only work if you buy the game from a specific store..?

The Windows store version is a locked down mess so they're probably not going to hold up the Steam improvements while they wait to fix that version, and rightfully so.

SLI and programs that hook into the game don't work on the windows store version due to the shitty way games from it work (No exclusive fullscreen, or any sort of injection)

Played around abit, fps is still shitty in the big open places for me on my 390, no matter the settings.
Guess I'll have to play at locked 30 or just wait till they implement DirectX 12 and hope for the best.

Not sure really, would be pretty dumb if these wouldn't include the Windows store release.

I thought the MS Store version had no SLI support at all? Might explaing why the patch wouldn't improve SLI performance there.

Edit: Beaten:

Granted I don't have an SLI setup, but some people appear to have got it working for the Store Version with a bit of profile tweakin with nVidia Inspector

Perhaps with DX12 allowing "native" (for lack of a better word) cross-GPU support it will become less of an issue in the future.

The extra dufficulties of Windows Store games come as a surprise to me, not even interested in the new Tomb Raider but I was originally waiting for the Gears 1 Remake to appear but knowing this now I will avoid this store at all cost!

Killer Instinct will be a problem too I guess.
