Dragon: The Game is an Early Access game on Steam, developed by Red Level Games , that breaks away from the traditional mold of being the human hero that slays dragons or rides dragons. Here, you play AS the dragon. Soar the skies, burn the trees and villages, and consume animals, monsters, and even people should you choose. Light the landscape on fire with your dragon's breath or defeat enemies with the swing of your powerful tail.
Alpha Screenshot, the current state of the game does not reflect this, keep in mind.
Red Level Games was founded in 2014 by Grant Williams and is based out of Richland, WA. It's a startup team of 10 people and growing, and as of this thread they are potentially working with a new animator according to their most recent Kickstarter update as of Feb 5th. Their goals for the game include incorporating RPG mechanics into the game as well as branching Quests and Reputation systems. Their intended release schedule is the end of 2016 according to their Kickstarter video, but as with all game development, this is subject to change. The current state of the game is a bare-bones Dragon Simulator, and the dev team, as small as it is, are making rapid updates to the game and are in it for the long haul. They are currently, as of this post, working on their Quest system and ironing out Lairs. This game has been in Early Access for a while now and will continue to be so, in addition to their Kickstarter which they hope it's rather low $30k goal will help accelerate development, as opposed to that amount being required for the game to be completed.
Reaching its Kickstarter goal might seem like a longshot at this point, but as someone who has already bought Early Access when the game first released, I intend to back at least $100 when I'm able to here before the Kickstarter ends. I can always appreciate a new team starting up and chasing game ideas that break the mold of so many Steam games. While the game can be played now, the landscape is very basic and being used as a testing ground for new features to be implemented.
Take a look at the Kickstarter and/or their own Steam community page and have a look for yourself!
