Jean Lapierre, a former MP of the federal government, he was in charge of Transport under PM Paul Martin among other things, and very well know political TV analyst was killed in a plane crash this afternoon. His wife and all his brothers/sisters also died in the same accident.

They were all on their way home to support their mother for his father's funerals after he passed away on last Saturday.

Terrible story. His mother lost her husband and all her childrens within a couple of days.

Holy shit. That's awful.

RIP. I don't know if I could survive a loss of that magnitude. I'd just want to curl up into a ball and die if I lost my kids and my wife like that.

im in shock. he came at my place for dinner one day as my father was in politics. He made such an impression on me.... Such a classy , smart and witty man. Listened to him on the radio everyday....such a loss.... RIP

Jesus, him and his siblings die in a wreck on the way to their mom's after her husband just died 2 days ago. I can't even remotely imagine would that woman is going through right now, God bless her.

Wow, I absolutely feel for that mother right now. It sucks enough to watch your loved one slowly slip away from Parkinsons and die, but to lose all of your children in the same tragic accident literally a day after you lose your husband?

Gut wrenching and tragic to experience that kind of loss in so short a time in your twilight years. RIP to all of those that died and someone please give that woman a warm hug (grandchildren?)

Yeah his daughter just had a baby. He was talking recently how proud he was to finally be a grandfather.

One of his sister is alive and well.

Glad to hear it

I can't even imagine how that woman must feel like now...no matter how much I try to think about it, I just can't.

It's very tragic, and harsh indeed.

Something somewhat similar happened last week in town here, a family were sitting watching the sunset at a pier, the car ended up sliding down the slipway into the water after moving onto algae. 5 people died, the only survivor was a 4 month old baby that had been passed out the driver side window by her father to a brave passer by who risked his own life swimming out to help the family.

All from the same family. The mother of the baby was in England for a weekend away with friends. Everyone else in the car was her family, her mother, sister, two sons, and her partner who passed their child out to it's rescuer.

It's a similar situation I suppose in the sense that you wonder where the mother finds the strength to go on.
