Medievil news?

Would be as excited by this news as I would for a Crash news. Damn Medievil was good.

But unfortunately, I am pretty sure it is just Sony getting back what should be theirs :(.

IKD man, Unseen64 has reported that Sony has tried to bring Medievil back for both PS2, PS3 and then for PS4 but cancelled all the projects before entering full production

Clearly is something that has always been on their mind but they just dont seem to get to a point where they the finda right project, and might has just droped for good now. I hope not

It might just be Sony trying to protect their brand. That said, a new MediEvil would be greatly appreciated.

A new (good) Medievil would essentially force me to get a PS4 down the line. Not Crash, not the Last Guardian, but motherfuckin' Sir Dan.

Not getting my hopes up. At this point it feels like Sony has abandoned all their PS1 IPs and that makes me sad.

It's nothing as was this:

A new Medievil should absolutely be 24fps with no motion blur and a lighting engine similar to the one in The Tomorrow Children or Dreams.
Strictly hand positioned animations.

Basically, I demand it looks like stop motion.

It would be really cool to see this IP revived but it has been a pipedream at best. Sony really does have a lot of cool IPs from the past that need a look at again.

I honestly thought that Sir Daniel Fortesque being in PS All-Stars meant that we could see a revival soon. 3.5 years later and nothing still...

PS2, PS3 and PS4!? Man, all of those potential MediEvil games :(.

After the success of Ratchet and Clank and Yooka Laylee and other platformers and mascot style games, I think Medievil could work out really well in this day and age. Make it a zeldaqesque adventure game with solid combat and movement controls and abilities, a nice challenge, cool looking bosses, and a nice bit of weird almost goofy humor.

Sony had a Move game years ago that featured a skeleton protagonist, would've been perfect to just slap their MediEvil license on, and they didn't. I was shocked Sir Daniel was even in PSASBR (jesus their working title was better for that game).

Well OreShika (an obscure, Japan only RPG from the PS1) did get a PS Vita sequel a year or two back

But yeah it's not looking great

I don't think we necessarily would have gotten ALL of those games, especially if one of those potential games didn't do so well

I think on the upside, it's cool to know that they still have interest in the IP at all, even if they've yet to commit to a new game.

Honestly, Medievil could be a blend of the classic and Souls-Lite. Hell, give it a hub world, add some Metroid flair to it with exploring older levels with new items and you got a really good stew going

They could go a couple different way with the IP as its so far from the original games I think they could just take inspiration from their art style and gameplay instead of just trying to recreate the playstation games in modern times. I'd actually love if it were in the vein of the Maximo games though maybe not as insanely hard and punishing haha.

Way too good to be true and you know it. Make it with Arkham style 'combat', detective vision, braindead platforming with auto jumping and always on objective markers and we're talking. Sorry but reading on EG about the cancelled Kain game has made me ever more cynical about reboots.
