Though this is just an early teaser trailer to the upcoming Danish platformer, Limbo, it’s already looking brilliant and I’m already thinking of the possibilities. An indie game to the core, Limbo is being produced by 1 extremely talented individual, Arnt Jensen, who is behind the art, concept and design. Limbo has recently received a healthy grant from the Danish government in order to continue the development of the game, more proof of the good that government funded innovation achieves. More information will be coming soon on the availability of the game and I’m holding out hope that the developer will soon have a dev-blog where he can discuss more about his ideas and game design.

Very atmospheric and artistic. Awesome use of black and white. Visually it's very interesting and stimulating. This is something that should be on Xbox Live Arcade where it'd get a pretty decent audience.

This reminds me a bit of ICO in a way: the sound, the charming animation, the minimalism and simplicity...

The end of that teaser was a major buzzkill.

Sorry.

You know, this is the kind of shit I expected on XBLA.

awesome teaser. level design looks as strong as the visual style, surprisingly enough -- the bit with the crate in the rotating level was really cool.

that was pretty cool.
one guy doing this? somebody needs to pick him up, downloadable content anyone?

anybody else get a loco roco vibe from this? only much darker of course.

i couldn't disagree more. i think it's a great contrast. and i don't think i'd call it sterile anyway

Jarosh is right. Much like how there is great contrast in the visuals of the world the title character finds himself in, the character himself contrasts with that world.

I am very much looking forward to this one.

The game doesn't have a steril look IMO. The game is made up of black and grays, but gives of this feeling of being full of life.

someone should change the title of this thread to "READ THIS THREAD RIGHT NOW"

The current thread title is way too informative and boring

That would look terrific on PSP. One man army produce game this interesting? Many devs should be ashame of themself already :p.

Ok, that game got me fscking excited. Looks very Eric Chahi (Another World/Heart of Darkness) with a hint of Loco Roco.

Very much reminding of Out of This World/Another World. Very ****ing nice. Heh, it reminds me totally of something a friend of mine who's a tech artist for EA was working on before being assimilated. It was all about simple silhouettes of the foreground terrain and objects being mostly pitch black (with only edges illuminated) and background work being much lighter in comparison. Very, very similar. Anyway, this looks really perfect for a handheld like the DS/PSP and somethings like XBLA.

That was gonna be my post

The child character, and more the child-like animation and chilling silence but footsteps... wierd, but looks awesome.

Live Arcade, PC, PSP, whatever, It's mine

Congrats to the developer. Hope he keeps his imagination flowing. That's essential for his game. The work so far, however, is just beautiful. I almost didn't click this thread because I suspected a Doom clone behind this. So glad I did.

If this game was to come out I'd be the first to buy it, excellent atmosphere and very nice visual style, but something about it brings Sadness wii to mind. I don't thing there's any code behind this, it looks like it might be done entirely in a 3d animation package. Hope I'm wrong.

Probably, they are looking to hire a programmer right now. But Idon't think they will have a problem converting the trailer to actual gameplay. Nothing in there seems technically challenging, even for a handheld.
