IGN Resistance Hands on
http://ps3.ign.com/articles/740/740239p1.html

*thx Rice-Eater for the notice.

This obvious change can be found mostly in the little things. Shadows have been turned on, enemies work together more effectively, the number of cover points and onscreen allies has increased quite a bit, etc. Like the other stage, "Outgunned" is a little on the challenging side as well and pits you and a few of your NPC buddies against a large number of aggressive aliens. It'll definitely be interesting to see how this environment turns out in the full game, since the demo's version is quite the busy, quite entertaining, and quite hard.

During our session, we learned a couple of other tidbits that we hadn't really learned before. When using the sniper rifle, for example, you can target individual pieces of your enemies (the hoses on their back, their metal protrusions, limbs... you name it). This location-specific damage means that if you blast an opponent in the kneecap, he'll drop down to an injured kneeling position; blast a guy in the arm and it'll go limp for a moment or two leaving him open for more fire. Cool. We also discovered that your AI-controlled teammates won't be able to finish a conflict. Though they will do damage to an opponent when attacking him, it's up to you to finish the job -- think of them as strategic breathers.

There is one bit of bad news, though: Insomniac ultimately decided against going with 1080p and has kept the game at a maximum resolution of 720.

Here's what I want:

Resistence should have an online co-op mode. I don't really have any interest playing this game split screen. It's too pretty!

Also, I want one game with a dinosaur in it. Just one. The last dino-centric launch title for any system was Super Mario World. Get it done, Sony!

Oh! And War of the Monsters 2 should at least be hinted at. Man that game could use a sequel...

Other interesting things on the discovery tip include the fact that Resistance's "skill points" work much in the same way that Insomniac's Ratchet skill system did -- rewarding players with unlockable goodies like cheats and skins for excelling in hidden ways. Also, the health system is similar to Halo's in that it regenerates over time but since your life bar is broken into a pip system, you can only regenerate lost health from within your remaining sections of the gauge. Our favorite little tidbit, though, is that players can customize their quick select wheel for weapons so they can jump to whichever guns they want in whatever order they want. It's small, but very handy.

So no 1080p :(.
Oh well, a nicely polished launch title running fluently @ 720p isn't so bad.

Glad they made the deadline :D
Much better IMO, I vastly prefer a more polished game with better effects than a resolution upgrade. Let's hold back on 1080p once developers are accustomed to the platform in a few years down the line.

Downloadable games are so freaking awesome, I'm really happy all three are going this route.

Oh yeah! The news are coming! I hope this "conference" will talk about BC in details (and if there will be region locks for BC) and the accessories (and pricing) for NA. This and the official launch lineup would be enough for me...

well, maybe with some more Naughty Dog game footage.:D

The difference between today's demo and the version that Sony had on display at TGS is minimal. Minute AI tweaks, small bug fixes, and slight visual polish is all that one usually expects at this point and that's exactly what we got.

And no 1080p for Resistance.

Cash Money Chaos is now called "Ca$h Carnage Chao$". And it's also coming to the PS3 as a E-distribution game

http://ps3.ign.com/articles/740/740257p1.html
cool..

Slated for release sometime in the early launch window (possibly even day and date), Carnage Chaos mixes the idea of a 1970s game show with the need to save the human race from total annihilation. In all, players can expect to traverse more than 50 different stages using a familiar Smash TV-type control scheme while experiencing two different modes (Game Show -- a three-season, 15-episode jaunt and Re-run -- a score attack challenge)

In addition to what's mentioned above, Cash Carnage Chaos will also include three different difficulty settings (Wuss, Cool, and Bad Ass), numerous weapons and awards, dozens of different enemy types (hillbillies, clowns, aliens, pirates), and giant transforming bosses. Expect in-game cutscenes and a San Diego-inspired punk rock soundtrack as well.
^what, no ninjas? :lol

Well, I sure hope the PS3 version looks a lot better.

It's a PSP game you can download and play on the PS3. Same game. Just how you play it is different.

Holy **** at the scale of the environments in Resistance. Granted that none of these environments are new, but I don't remember them looking this massive. And clear.

And that matters why?

Maybe because putting a PSP game on the PS3 for download doesn't magically make it look like Heavenly Sword?

Just like putting Doom on XBLA doesn't magically make it look like Halo 3.

I wasn't aware that some downloadable games could be playable on both a PS3 or PSP. That's actually a pretty cool feature. CCC still looks pretty lame though.

I don't think they said anything about downloading the game to play on the PSP at all.

CCC was initially announced as a PSP game. This "DX" version is basically the same game, but is one of the downloadable games on the PS3 online stuff.
