Warner’s ‘Lego Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ (-39%) holds on to No1 for a fourth week in a row.

It now just needs one more to equal the record of 5 consecutive weeks for a Lego title (‘Lego Batman 2: DC Super Heroes’ with 5 weeks back in 2012). There are no new releases within the Top 40 and overall sales drop -29% over last week, partly due to summer holidays and partly due to the spike from the special retail shopping event during last week. As such we see EA’s ‘FIFA 16’ up 5 places to No2 (-13%), followed at No3 by Activision Blizzard’s ‘Overwatch’ which climbs 1 place (-30%). Last week’s big new entry, Capcom’s 3DS ‘Monster Hunter Generations’ (-66%) drops 6 places to No9. The Pokemon Go mobile phenomenon continues to affect Pokemon 3DS software sales and 3 Pokemon 3DS games re-enter the Top 40: ‘Pokemon Omega Ruby’ (No17), ‘Pokemon Alpha Sapphire’ (No24) and ‘Pokemon Y’ (No29). This week is the first full sales week since the mobile game was launched in UK, which means that August will show a remarkable spike in Pokemon sales and 3DS software and hardware, plus Nintendo’s share of the market.

Brace yourselves, Pokemon is coming. I wanna see a week with the Top 10 being nothing but Pokemon.

Oh hey, even Mystery Dungeon got a GO bump.

What's the latest numbers on uc3 vs uc4?

Bruno provided me with an update in last weeks chart:

Uncharted 3 is a bit ahead launch aligned, let's not forget that Uncharted 3 was released in November.

After 10 weeks:

Uncharted 3 ~ 345,000-370,000
Uncharted 4 ~ 333,000
Code:
[Nov, 2011] UNCHARTED 3: DRAKE'S DECEPTION (SONY COMPUTER ENT.) - 184,000
[Dec, 2011] UNCHARTED 3: DRAKE'S DECEPTION (SONY COMPUTER ENT.) ~ 155,000 - 180,000

[May, 2016] UNCHARTED 4: A THIEF'S END (SONY COMPUTER ENT.) ~ 260,000
[Jun, 2016] UNCHARTED 4: A THIEF'S END (SONY COMPUTER ENT.) ~ 56,000

Neck and neck after 10 weeks but throw in growth of digital and I think it's likely overall ahead of UC3.

TOP 10 ENTERTAINMENT SOFTWARE (ALL PRICES), WEEK ENDING 23 July 2016

01 (01) LEGO STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS (WARNER BROS. INTERACTIVE) ~ 9,900 - 11,300 [-39%]
02 (07) FIFA 16 (ELECTRONIC ARTS) < 7,300 [-13%]
03 (04) OVERWATCH (ACTIVISION BLIZZARD) ~ 5,900 [-30%]
04 (05) GRAND THEFT AUTO V (TAKE 2)
05 (06) DOOM (BETHESDA SOFTWORKS)
06 (02) UNCHARTED 4: A THIEF'S END (SONY COMPUTER ENT.)
07 (08) CALL OF DUTY: BLACK OPS III (ACTIVISION BLIZZARD)
08 (09) ROCKET LEAGUE (505 GAMES)
09 (03) MONSTER HUNTER GENERATIONS (CAPCOM) < 3,900
10 (16) MINECRAFT: XBOX EDITION (MICROSOFT)

Code:
[Week 29, 2016] 161,732 units / £4.28m

This week software sales dropped by 29% (units) / 32% (revenue) over last week, this has to be a new low in way over a decade. We would likely have to go back to pre 2000 era to find a week where weekly software sales dipped to near 150,000 units level. The previous low (I don't include 2016) since I follow the UK charts was in week 34, 2015 with 187,705 units / £4.46m. In fact, that was the only time I saw sales dropping below 200,000 units. By contrast, this is the 4th time that this year has a weekly sales below that mark.

Week 18, 2016 - 192,956 units / £5.4m
Week 23, 2016 - 198,901 units / £6.1m
Week 25, 2016 - 182,070 units / £4.8m

This year is being extremely poor for the retail market. Sales dropped by over 18% during the first half of the year and this time Nintendo is a non factor because last year Nintendo was already irrelevant. The leading console (PlayStation 4) which should be entering in its prime years will not be able to match (and by a considerable margin) in 2016 what the over 6 year old PlayStation sold back in 2001, and it won't surpass by much what PlayStation 3 sold in its third year.

Thanks for this Bruno, the console market is dead. Jk.
But could this 29% weekly drop be due to the crazy drought of software releases during summer?

There's barely been anything to purchase in comparison to last year for eg which had Batman, MK X which sold great so I'm not totally surprised.

Comparing that to the PS1 days when there was a veritable feast of software supported by mid tier also skews things a little perhaps? Just spitballing here.

I'm just addressing the retail console market, not the console market as a whole.

Hey, maybe one of the reasons is that everybody bought I am Setsuna last week :P

Thanks for reminding me that I need to spend the credit I currently have with Game. Was going to hold onto it for No Man's Sky (I think I have about £37); I hope they don't crash before then!

So Pokemon is back on the charts still those are likely to be sub 1k numbers.

If you combined ORAS it's probabily almost 2,000 and XY probabily over 1,000.

Not a lot, but considering how Nintendo is in UK right now it's still very good.

I would love to see the Germany weekly chart considering Pokémon was already pretty high before Pokémon GO, but now it's just monthly :(

ERA has published the ERA Entertainment Chart for the First Half of 2016.

There are 9 games in the top 40.

2. CALL OF DUTY: BLACK OPS III (ACTIVISION BLIZZARD) - 380,027 / 2,308,840
3. UNCHARTED 4: A THIEF'S END (SONY COMPUTER ENT.) - 335,545 / NEW

ERA has published the ERA Entertainment Chart for the First Half of 2016.

There are 8 games in the top 40.

UK Best-Selling Games 1H 2016 (Jan 3rd - Jul 2nd)

1. TOM CLANCY'S THE DIVISION (UBISOFT) - 547,580 / NEW
2. CALL OF DUTY: BLACK OPS III (ACTIVISION BLIZZARD) - 380,027 / 2,308,840

For a comparation, USA:

1. CALL OF DUTY: BLACK OPS III (ACTIVISION BLIZZARD) - 2,612,000 / 10,946,000
2. TOM CLANCY'S THE DIVISION (UBISOFT) > 2,100,000 / NEW

I guess COD in UK or others EU countries is not as big as in USA (though this was obvius since years), but the PS4 bundle surely helped a lot. Wonder what could have done that bundle in Europe...

Also, still about COD, BO II was at 2.77 million after 13 weeks (February 2013) and BO 1 at 3.16 million after 15 weeks do you know the LTD sales for BO 1 by half of 2011 and BO II by half of 2013? Just for a comparation with BO III.

6. GRAND THEFT AUTO V (TAKE 2) - 236,712 / 6,247,144

It's immortal... :O

6. GRAND THEFT AUTO V (TAKE 2) - 236,712 / 6,247,144

That is absolutely insane number especially when you consider the size of the country. Add in PC numbers from Steam that are about 300k and you have every tenth person in UK that could have copy of GTA V (of course I know it doesn't go direcly like this). Not to mention that it still excludes numbers from other digital stores on PC and digital from consoles. Probably somewhere at least around of 7 million if you include everything. Higher than any game in Japan since original Pokemon for example.

I was counting on MCV Magazine to be able to keep tracking Uncharted 4 since Chart-Track didn't indicate its weekly percentage change, but this week they have published an special publication entirely dedicated to eSports.

Since Overwatch sold around 5,900 units in week 29 we know that Uncharted 4 sales at least dropped by 50%.

Yo-Kai Watch LTD in Spain as of end of June is 50,000.
