Until Dawn: Rush of Blood reviews

Those are rather good scores for a 3 hour long rail shooter. Loved UD and for that price I'll give it a try. And to make my wife scream.

I liked what I saw, 7/10 seems about right. I have to see Sterling's review as to why it's THE game to get for PSVR.

Damn at the glaring review from Jim Sterling, especially when he said this game sold him to VR more than anything else. If it's the same for a lot of people, Sony has a lot to be thankful for of Supermassive Games after Until Dawn became a surprise sleeper hit.

This game did not look particularly good on the Giant Bomb VR stream.

Did anything look good on the Giant Bomb stream, though? Haha!

I mean, it's not the most amazing game you'll ever play. If you're getting PSVR, though, I'd pick this one up. It's pretty cheap, too!

Is Emily in it? I'd buy VR if there was a game featuring Emily screaming at my face and hurling insults at me for two hours.

What do you even do in this game, carnival ride? Any replay value? Even some light gun games can have tons of reply value.

This game just became a buy for me. It's cheap too so it's not bad, but I'm real curious why Jim was so hyped on it. Half of his PSVR review was just all about this game.

Which I think illustrates another point in that VR will live and die by the software.

I'm just REALLY curious why he considered this basically the "best" VR game out there.

Ahahaha. I wasn't going to get this until Sterling's review, but now I want this version of the game.

I skipped a lot of his previews because I'm trying to avoid spoilers on these short games, however he indicated with the sound direction and setting that the immersion was strong in this game. Basically it's a simple premise that is very well executed and not treated as a simple tech demo in his terms.

Remove the title and I wouldn't see any connection to Until Dawn...

at least from the 10 minutes video I saw on youtube.

Yeah, that kind of bums me a bit. It's clearly a tagged on title to capitalize on the surprising success of Until Dawn. It still could be good, though.

This is more than enough for a purchase for me. I expected mixed given the type of game and the length, but it seems perfect for vr.

I really need to know. Are rail shooters in VR essentially 1:1 light gun games except you are inside that shit?

One the one hand, as a light gun enthustiast that's fucking awesome. On the other hand I am a massive arachnaphobe (Australian so with good cause) and I feel like huge fucking spiders jumping at me might fuck with me in a way I am not prepared for.

I'd be more afraid of kangaroos in your country. You see how jacked they are?

Kangaroos don't bite your junk when your taking a shit or crawl inside your mouth while you sleep. Plus kangaroos are delicious

Played it at the GameStop Expo a few weeks back. Loved it! The best comparison I know to make to it is The Simpsons 3D ride at Universal Studios. It's like that, except you're in more control and have things to do aside from just "enjoying the ride". Look forward to playing the full game!

Not seeing this on the Playstation Store yet or else I would preorder it.
I am getting PSVR. I love Rail Shooters of all kinds, so this is an insta buy for me as I will no doubt form my own opinion.

Not a review per se but Time really liked it.

That leaves the experiences, of which Sony says around 30 should be available at launch (expanding to 50 by year’s end). I had access to a handful of these during the review period, but my favorites include Supermassive’s jolting Until Dawn: Rush of Blood, a wheeled glide over rickety rollercoaster trellises, through creepy caverns and ghoul-haunted houses. You’re glued to your seat, brandishing a pair of lordly firearms, taking shots at lunging enemies in macabre scenarios. So basically Duck Hunt meets Saw.

Great video, but the end is depressing : I have faith in PSVR, but like Jim says Sony has a bad habit of being like FOX networks and dropping the ball on things the second they stop doing exactly what they want. This could go either way - and I'm excited to pick up my PSVR very soon - but if they treat this like the Vita, PSP go, ps tv etc and stop showing love I may need to just stop buying Sony products. (And I say this as a PSP importer who couldn't even wait for the US launch.)

This is not Until Dawn. Using the name is a waste.

It's called marketing and there's nothing wrong with using the name to sell units.

Even the premise of the game makes sense really from the story perspective at least in my opinion. For some reason, I feel like the game is a visual representation of what's going on inside Josh's head.

Until Dawn only had 1 game its not a established franchise with a formula.

If future Until Dawn games are different with them being contained horror scenarios then the use of the name here isnt that bad because its another horror scenario.

According to reviews,
you guessed correctly.

There you go.

Pretty good way of looking at it.

Indeed, it's not like Until Dawn was a mega hit, not sure what they hope to achieve by slapping its name on unrelated properties.
Again, this game was in development before UD was out. It's not a cash in, it's a game the developers wanted to make for VR.

Wait... You're Australian and afraid of spiders, that kind of person exists?

I thought you guys were used to terrifying things being in your house down there.

What the fuck is up with the Emily love here?? I hated her character. lol

She was lucky I didn't have Mike shoot her.

What I played of it months ago was pretty fun, but I still didn't expect such high scores (or to hear that it's 3 hours long.) IF I was willing to spend a thousand dollars on PSVR, it would be what I'd buy.
